Is Filene's Basement Bridal Gown Sale Worth It?
It's on Fri 3/3 and I was wondering if anyone has ever been to this before? Is it worth taking a day off of work for? Seems that the prices are unbeatable. I wouldn't go when it opened though becuase some of those women are CRAZY! I'll probably go around noon time. Any tips? TIA

Re: Is Filene's Basement Bridal Gown Sale Worth It?
Personally it just seems too chaotic....people are reaching/grabbing and it just seems too stressful. I'd rather be in a salon and be able to try on dresses and feel like a princess and then I ordered through Phyllis at gownfind & she saved me 400. on my dress. Personally its not my style, but that's just me.

Re: Is Filene's Basement Bridal Gown Sale Worth It?
Go late in the afternoon! Last year, I went around 5 pm to the Union Square one and they did have a lot of nice dresses, but nothing caught my eye. It's chaotic in that the dresses aren't arranged in any particular way and no one's there to help, but I saw some really great prices and would've tried on some of the dresses if they were in my size.

Mayflower - you've gone....do they have a variety of sizes?
I'm embarassed to say that I need a large wedding dress - about a 16. I'm a 10 in normal clothes, what gives!
So basically, I'm asking if they have many "big girl" dresses!

My mom and I went last year and it was hi-larious. It is hectic and crazy, you see women in teams, dressed so they can find each other. Depends what your attitude is... i went thinking if i find something, then great, if not, not the end of the world. I went in the morning! i found a gorgeous size 8 romona keveza dress for 700. pretty good bargain!

Yes they do have a large variety of (large) sizes. I recall seeing a lot of 14's, 16's, 18's, and 20's.

Re: Is Filene's Basement Bridal Gown Sale Worth It?
That's my attitude. I have a year and a half before my wedding so I am in no means in any rush, but I just thought it would be cool to try it. If you go to their website they have tips like bring a bunch of people and wear the same colors or bring walkie talkies. I just thought that was too funny!

Re: Is Filene's Basement Bridal Gown Sale Worth It?
I would LOVE to try it, but I have no one to go with me!
Mom works Fridays and can't get off, Sister (MOH) has class, and my other BMs are first year teachers.
boohoo.

Oh I'm sorry Maybe one of your friends can go with you, even if they are not in the BP. If not, you're lucky like me and we have a year and a half or so before our weddings. I'm sure they'll have another event way before then!

I went last year (also in early March) and the designer gowns were really inexpensive.
I did not camp out all night and ended up going at lunch (mid-afternoon). I found a nice Lazaro gown (too small ) and also a great Romona Keveza that I would have bought if it was in white. It was in ivory

Is it bride's dresses only? I've always wanted to see this sale and I would go if I could get some special event dresses!
