Does anyone really listen? vent
My mother just came into my room and asked me if I have registered. I unbelievably had enough restraint to calmy say to her, yes, I believe I told you about a month ago when I handed you my registry that I had registered at Bed Bath and Beyond. The registry was sitting on your printer for a couple of weeks.
I can guess how little this wedding actually means to her.
Great way to start a vacation.

Bonnie- my mother has asked me that question at least a dozen times since we registered before New Year's. I don't look at it as not caring - just a 70 year old memory.

Thanks ladies, but.....
Not to be difficult, but she remembers EVERYTHING! She is very spiteful, so she remembers it all so she can get even later on. So I don't think it is senility. Just uncaring.

I'm sorry she was like that. My mom's not the best with emotions - when I had my first fitting she barely said anything and was more interested in everyone else then me.

:(.... I got a better one for you... I told my mother do not get a lite blue dress, cos the BMs are wearing lite blue and guess what? She gets a lite blue dress and claims I never told her anything!!!!!!!!!!

that's how i'd see it! dont' think that her not remembering about the registry means that she doesn't care! it could be that she truly had a brain fart and didn't remember. just from what you said--i wouldn't make a big deal out of this.
however it sounds like there is more of an underlying issue than just her forgetting about the registry--are you mad at her for something else?

It could be the generation. My mom believes that there shouldn't be registries because that's how it was when she got married. SHe refuses to look at ours.

wow, I thought I was the only one with a mother like that... The best for me is... FH and I live out of state and would be moving back to LI after the wedding... My mom offered us her basement apartment to move in to once we're married - she told us this about a year ago - we had originally said we'd think about it... Now, about a year from the wedding we said we'd like to take her up on that offer since property in LI is so expensive and would be a great way to start off and save... She turns around and says that we can't take the apartment b/c she thought we didn't want it and has already planned on keeping the current tennant. OMG, we never would have thought about living there if she hadnt offered and then we decide to take her up on her offer and she says NO?! very frustrating!!! This is probably why i shouldnt live wiht my mother anyway...
