Mother's Wedding Gown
Hey Gals!
Some of you were interested in this from a prior post:
I am using my mom's wedding gown; It was just cleaned and looks brand new!
Tomorrow I go to the dress maker to try it on, get it taken in and explain to her my alterations!
Let me know if anyone is interested in knowing how it looks or how this process goes!

Wow how cool is that! We don't even know where my moms dress is! However I do have my grandmothers dress and I am using a piece from it and haveing it incorporated into my dress.

Thanks gals!
She kept it preserved all these years (25) and we just got it cleaned and it looks beautiful...
HOWEVER, I am not going today anymore... we are going next Wednesday (there was a miscommunication with my mother and the dressmaker apparently)
But, I will bring the camera and post pics - if I can learn how - and reply to this topic next week!

how awesome...
my mothers dress was ruined right after the wedding - before having it preserved, it was hanging in their bedroom closet. The roof leaked, and ruined her dress

It will be my something old!
I am able to use her dress but totally alter it to the type of dress that I wanted so its the best of both worlds!

I think it's wonderful that you are wearing your mother's wedding dress..
My mom's dress was an original Demetrios and unfortnately it just isn't the style that I envision myself wearing on my wedding day. I am thinking about taking some of the material and wrapping it around my bouquet though..

wow its so rare to hear about a daughter actually wanting to wear her mother's wedding dress...its refreshing!...its the reason i'm preserving mine (just in case my future daughter loves her mommy's taste  ) i can't wait to see pictures!!!

Update!
Just came back from the dressmaker!
I am going to post a picture of my mom wearing the dress for the before....
it TOTALLY preserved and cleaned nicely...
but I think it would be good to show how she wore it.. which is basically what it looks like now, and then the after shot...
The after shot is not ready yet bc they didn't alter it fully while I was there.... but it is 100% like the dress I would want and choose....
They cut the neck and made it an off the shoulder look and they are going to take in the gown... so when they do that, I will post the after pics!!!
Wanted to keep you gals updated!!!

Awww, I wanted somthing like this, but noone has their gowns  I'm going Vintage what a search that's another reason why it's good we're waiting til 2007...
FMIL started to giggle when I told her & she told me that she just (a year or 2 ago) donated her great grandmothers gown
I love that ur using your mom's gown!!
