Just Getting Started...Don't Have a Clue!

Hi Everyone!
I just got engaged a month ago Wednesday. We are planning an 07 wedding and are flexible with the date (anytime between March & September). I REALLY want a Saturday evening reception. Our budget is about $125 per guest. Can anyone recommend reception halls in LI/Queens/Westchester that are within this budget? I don't want to make appointments with places that are completely out of my league or are not available.

Everyone on the site sounds so together and well planned. I haven't done anything but buy the latest copy of "Brides" Magazine and register here.

Can anyone help a bride that doesn't have a clue where to begin??? Help!!!

congratulations!!!

Well, I'm booked at the Watermill and got a great price - but I booked in June 05 for June 07. It was under $125.... I worked with Glen, he's great!

Re: Just Getting Started...Don't Have a Clue!

Im at the Westbury Manor 7/29/07 and paying $95 pp. (I'm getting a few extras...a 6 hour reception....vienesse hour, chocoltae fountain and some others) It is a Sunday night and in the summer. I belive they quoted me $140 for a Sat. in the summer. I think the summer is the most popular and most exspensive so maybe another month would be just right for you.

Good Luck and welcome

Re: Just Getting Started...Don't Have a Clue!

Check out the thread on hall prices and that will be a big help to you.
There are about 5 pages of postings on halls and prices everyone got.

Sat night is the most expensive, but I think you will be able to find something for that price. Plus if you read the thread, everyone get's different prices and it all depends on what you get.

Good Luck!

Re: Just Getting Started...Don't Have a Clue!

I'm at the Swan Club for Sturday 6/2/07 and we are paying $90 pp (plus 18% gratuity and the 8.625% tax) but they gave us the vieinese table and cordals included in that. Jordana is AMAZING and soooo sweet. They also gave us our wedding night room at the Roslyn Clarmont. They said it was because we booked within 48 of getting our original quote with them, but I am not sure if that is true or not.

Either way, look there! It's BEAUTIFUL in the summer with LOTS of photo opps ! !

Re: Just Getting Started...Don't Have a Clue!

I was also in the same boat but a bit lower budget. March was the best deal over all for me. I would say check out Fox Hollow. There are bridal magazines for Long Island Brides that have charts with different things you may be looking for and also price ranges. This is where I started. I got mine at Fortunoff in the Registry area they have Free magazines. I have also seen them at CVS. Good Luck and Congrats!!

Re: Just Getting Started...Don't Have a Clue!

Congrats!!!!

$125 is definately do-able!

May-Sept would be the most $$ and be around $125 if not cheaper

March- April definately less than 125, b/c its not the wedding season....

it all depends on what day and time you want it...Friday Evening vs Saturday nite.....holiday weekend vs. non=holiday weekend...and also....what kind of theme are you going for....b/c that'll really help with what kind of hall you'll get to capture that.....

my hall is the Crescent Beach Club....only b/c I want a tropical theme like wedding.....weather providing!!!

enjoy the planning!! it'll be fun!!!

Re: Just Getting Started...Don't Have a Clue!

My budget was a lot lower than yours, but check out Stewart Manor Country Club, Coral House, Chatea Briand, George Washington Manor and Milleridge Inn, all quoted me for under $75 a person (some places it was their 2 star menu, not the 3 star.)

A Saturday night in the summer will be the most expensive. March will be the cheapest... once you hit April the prices go up and don't go down again until about November. My limited budget is why I am having a February wedding but as long as there isn't a blizzard, it will be okay. If you're trying to save money I would check out some of the above places...then you'll have extra money for your video, photo, band or DJ ,etc. GOOD LUCK!
