i think an engagement party and wedding are completely different, besides the fact that its your FH's coworker, not one of your good friends...
I cant believe that she would want to miss your big day for her little insignificant in comparision day.
have you already sent out the invitations, if i were you i wouldnt send her one and when she asks where it hers is, just simply tell her oh well i didnt think you wanted to come because it was your birthday.. sorry too late now, we have reached the max!!!

I was a BM in a wedding that was the day after my birthday...instead of having a romantic evening with DH that night I was asleep at 10 p.m. on my girlfriend's couch with her annoying dog so that I would be ready for her bright and early the next day... so needless to say I'd be very annoyed if I were you.
Question...is this friend single? I wonder if the thought of going to a wedding on her 30th birthday and being single bugs her...some girls have issues with that.

Nope, she's married, been married for about 2 years... think she's just self-absorbed and selfish... it wouldn't even be an issue for me. Besides we have like 3 other guests, including brother of the groom whose bday is also our wedding date...

I'd be pissed if that's how she put it when she told me! I could understand if she wanted to make a big deal out of her b-day, and had to have it on the day of, but she could've been a little nicer about telling you!

Definitely. This is one the biggest moments in your life and she is going to miss it because it is her b-day and she can't celebrate it a day later. That is no friend, that is someone who is self absorbed and you don't need people in your life like that.

yeah, i'd be mad if it was a really good friend... though to be honest, i will be at a RD on the night of my 30th and while, of course I am going b/c they are good friends, i am kinda bummed about it. Would never tell them that though (and, I know it's selfish!)

I spent one of my birthday's on an airplane (I think it was 28) coming back from a friend's wedding OOT. A birthday happens every year, a wedding only happens once!!! I'd be upset!
I didn't have anything going on for my 30th b-day but I really didnt' celebrate it until weeks later because everyone else was busy.

I have, who i thought was a very good friend tell me that she cannot come to the wedding b/c it's her 30th bday and she may or may not have plans to celebrate it with people... I was a bit perturbed, but i guess people's true colors come out.
 She does not even have definite plans but cannot attend the wedding because of what MAY be planned for her birthday That sounds very strange Are you sure she is not just trying to throw you off for some reason - like to surprise you and show up Is she from OOT
I would be really hurt if a close friend told me that she could not attend my wedding because it's her birthday. We purposely did not pick anyone's birthday as our date but if we had, I'd expect a close friend to still show up. I might even get a cake for a close friend to have served at the wedding.

I'd be totally PO'd!!!!!!!!! She knew when her birthday was and she also knows when your wedding was. And she waits to tell you now?!?!?! Anger!!!!!
I had pre-cana on my 30th. I didn't miss anything by not going out. And for my FH's 30th we had my brother wedding and had to postpone his festivities one week.
