Guess What....

We are getting married on a Sunday night at Carlyle on the Green bc Sat night was way too close to $200 per person BEFORE all of the taxes and the 20% gratuity- forget about actually meeting the minimum count.

Well last night, after we went over the lists again, my dad told me that we could do a Sat. night there if I really wanted. This would just mean that we would have to change the date- no biggie for me- and the hall has 2 Saturdays left open for the summer/early fall.

Here is the thing- I would feel horrible to have my dad pay that much money per person. We could have gone with any other hall on a Saturday but we loved Carlyle on the Green so we opted to have it at our dream place, just not on a Saturday. I just don't know if I feel comfortable with having him pay that much money- I feel like I am being selfish if I do.

At first I was excited and now I wish he never said that. I dont' know what to do

Re: Guess What....

We were quoted the following:

Friday night- 155
Sat night- 205, then to 195
Sunday night- 165

All prices were before tax and 20% gratuity.

Re: Guess What....

wow! Sat is a lot more.
how about friday night?

I think its impt to keep the whole thing in perspective. people will have a good time and you will always enjoy & remember your wedding. there isnt any need to break the bank over it. i think sometimes we all get carried away with extravagant wedding expenses that in the end are really unnecessary. you have to do what is reasonable in light of your budget and personal financial situation.

Re: Guess What....

totally agree- i think thats why i am having a tough time spending that much on a sat night.

we cant do friday- stinks that it is the lesser expensive of the two. we agreed that for our family sunday night would be the better of the two options.

i think that i am going to stick with the date i have.

thanks

Re: Guess What....

Stick with the Sunday...you were originally happy with that date and all the planning around it, no need to switch now, plus this way you wont need to cut the guest list or have feelings of guilt and can have everyone you want there and just feel great about it :) :) :)

Re: Guess What....

I agree-it's not just going to be the price of the place. You have to figure that the whole expense of a wedding could go up with each vendor. Some vendors charge extra for Saturday nights. Also, you are just at the beginning of planning. You will find out as you go that you will want certain things and you will be thinking about how much everything costs and how much it's costing your father. Each time you do that you will feel that guilt.

Stick with the Sunday. Your venue is great!

Re: Guess What....

I agree with the above girls. Sunday is a great idea!! If you really want the Saturday talk to your dad and see what he thinks. If the Sunday is good for you then just stick with it.
