Catholic church and unity candle?
I found this unity candle poem that I really want to use, but didn't know if the Catholic church would allow a poem as part of the ceremony? Also, who is supposed to read it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Catholic church and unity candle?
I would show it to the priest who is performing the ceremony. A close friend of ours will be reading a non-biblical reading during the unity candle lighting. We checked with the priest and there was no problem.
Good luck.

Do a search on the board
This was addressed a few months ago. It depends on your church. I am catholic and my church will not allow the unity candle ceremony, since it has its roots in paganism. However, other churches allow it. My advice is to check with your priest.

Mary, that's crazy!
I've never heard of such a thing. Every catholic ceremony I've been to has had the unity candle ceremony. Which church did you get married in? I wonder if mine will allow it. Thanks for posting...
