did anyone else cry when it was time to pack up their dress?
I packed up my dress to be sent to Wedclean. I was crying. It didn't help that I watched "Father of the Bride" tonight. I even took final pictures of my dress, veil and train as I was packing. I took a photo of myself after I'd been crying. It was the ugliest photo of me that I have ever seen. It was even worse than the photo of me the morning after my HS prom!!!

Re: did anyone else cry when it was time to pack up their dress?
s'ok!!! I handed my dress over to my mil in a black garbage bag to bring to the cleaners I didn't feel bad at all... but when we went back to NY to go on our honeymoon, I felt very bad leaving it at their house again. It will be coming home with me on this trip tho

Re: did anyone else cry when it was time to pack up their dress?
i did, i put it on again the day after the wedding and told my dad i was goign to the store, he laughed at me an dmade me take it off. I brought it in to the cleaners when we were on the honeymoon, then one day he came into the house with a huge box and told me it was mydress, i always ask him if i can open the box up and he yells at me.

I have not done it yet. But you better believe that before I bring it in to be cleaned and preserved, I am trying it on one last time!

Re: did anyone else cry when it was time to pack up their dress?
I pranced around the house in my dress the night before I brought it to the cleaners. I had my veil and tiara on too. DH was trying to play Playstation and I made him pause the game to "fluff" me. I even joked that he made a terrible bridesmaid. Yeah, if looks could kill, I'd have been dead that night.
My dress was all boxed and perfect until last week, when a close friend tried it on. She might borrow my dress for her wedding. I must admit that I liked seeing it on someone else --- did I look that thin?
My dress has been laid out in our spare bedroom for the last week. I keep looking at it and straightening it, knowing that one of these days I have to put it back in that darned box. It is taking up half the room.

Re: did anyone else cry when it was time to pack up their dress?
I brought mine in the day after the wedding, before we went on HM - simply b/c there was no room in our co-op for it. Now yesterday I went to the drycleaner b/c he asked me to check it before he put it in the preservation box. I must have found 40 little marks/stains. After getting a little annoyed with him, he said, "it's not going to be brand new". Anyone experience this? I don't understand how he can charge me $220 to get it "so-so". What if I want to lend it to someone or sell it? Sorry to hijack the post a little. The answer is, yes I was crying but for different reasons.

what KIND of stains are they? did you spill red wine or anything with oil on your dress? if not, they should have come out. especially since you took it in right away.

Re: did anyone else cry when it was time to pack up their dress?
No, no stains like wine or food. Just the usual markings from it dragging on the aisle - the black marks on the bottom from dancing my arse off. Don't get me wrong - it's SO much better than the day I brought it in, but I purposely made a point to get it to him immediately so everything would come out and it annoys me that I had to stand there for a half hour pointing to little marks all over it. I thought being a bridezilla was over - he made me feel like a crazy bride again.

Re: did anyone else cry when it was time to pack up their dress?
well if you feel that strongly about it. take the gown to another place.
Personally, I would just let it go. I don't expect my gown to come out looking like brand new. I didn't spill anything on it and it's in pretty good shape, but the train does have some dirt on it. we took pics out side for 3 hours, so I am not surprised.

Re: did anyone else cry when it was time to pack up their dress?
I didn't cry when I sent it to be cleaned, but I have to say that I was really sad to take it off after the wedding. I knew I would never be able to "wear" it again

Re: did anyone else cry when it was time to pack up their dress?
I didn't try it on again before getting it preserved because I know I gained about 5 lbs and the dress was very tight to begin with. It would have just made me sadder. But of course I put on my veil one last time.

Re: did anyone else cry when it was time to pack up their dress?
um lets see. I left my veil at my hall and when they called to tell me, I told them I didn't want it and I wasn't coming to get it. I gave my dress to Phyliss Limmer of Gownfind. My tiara is sitting in my Mothers room. My 6 year old daughter uses my shoes when she plays dress up. I didn't preserve my bo-k.
I wake up every morning as if it were Christmas everyday!!!!! I love being married to my best friend. I can't get enough of him.
Honestly, what I wore the day we got married is done & over with. I have pictures and a video to remind me.

If you truly feel that way, why get photos or a video? After all, you could just look at your husband and see what you need to see.
My mom and my sister did not preserve their dresses and wish they did.
