thinkin bout my dress...

Girls...I need your opinion, please!

I love my wedding dress...absolutely love it.

The problem is that it was REAL cheap. I bought it because I loved it...but I went shopping with the idea that I'd spend up to $2000-$3000 on my dress and this one was only $700. I only had it on once, when I bought it, and both my Mom and sister and the woman at the store said it was beautiful (me and my mom even cried hehe).

BUT ... Do you think I'll have any problems with it on the big day? I mean, I don't want it to fall apart or anything?!?!? I keep thinking about it and its getting me worried! Did I get a good deal or did I buy crap!? It is private label by G.

Sorry so long. Thanks!!

Re: thinkin bout my dress...

I don't think you'll have a problem at all on the day of your wedding. A similar thing happened to me, and the dress I love was just $1000 even thought I thought I'd spend twice that much. A lot of what differentiates dress prices are the name of the designer, and also the amount of work on the dress. The more beaded dresses tend to be more expensive. I tried on a couple of dresses by your designer and they were really nice (but I fell in love with the one I ended up getting). Also, a ton of girls get Maggie Sottero dresses and I think they are very affordable as well. I wouldn't worry one bit about the price you paid. As long as you got it from a reputable bridal shop or department store, I think the quality will be good.

I don't see why you would have a problem w/ it. There are tons of girls who spend way less than $2000-$3000 on their dresses.

Re: thinkin bout my dress...

My friend wore a private label by g dress last January. It was gorgeous and there were no issues whatsoever with it. I wouldn't worry at all...it's not about the $$, but the quality, and I'm sure it will be great!

You also only wear the dress for a max of 12 hours.

Re: thinkin bout my dress...

All that matters is how you feel about your dress. No one will know how much it costs, but you. Personally, I can't tell the difference between the super expensive dresses and those that are more affordable. You will look gorgeous no matter how much your dress costs. Don't sweat it!

Re: thinkin bout my dress...

You actually made me spit water out on my computer.

A $700 dress can hold up just as well if not better than an $2-3,000 dress. You have nothing to worry about. Especially the manufacturer you have Private Label by G...they're great. No worries.

ETA: I remember your gown too. A friend of mine wore the same gown for her wedding. The gown was gorgeous and held up just fine. You'll have no problems.

Re: thinkin bout my dress...

my dress was a little less than $700 and I had no problems with it at all.

lets be honest, you're wearing it for an hour a few times for fittings and then for one day. it's not like you need a high quality work suit to last you several years.

Re: thinkin bout my dress...

A woman I know who was married in the 70s spent $300 on her dress. Her dress budget was $200 but she made her own veil so she could have this dress.
Well the dress is still perfect today. Because all the beading was sewn on not glued. I don't think today you have to really worry about it, just ask if your detail was sewn on not glued. Thats what makes the differences not the price. Heck I found a dress that I almost got for $1000, it was BEAUTIFUL! And nice quailty too. Most people(NOT EVERYONE) pay the big bucks for the name, not the dress itself.

Re: thinkin bout my dress...

I almost bought a Private Label by G. That is a nice dress. You are making me feel cheap, my dress was only $150 more then yours.

You will have no problems at all!! Just because it is expensive, doesn't mean things are always better.

Re: thinkin bout my dress...

I thought I would spend 2000+ on my Dress.
I really wanted to go to a fancy boutique and junk. When I saw my WEDDING DRESS. I loved it and it was me. Everyone loved on me.
It's not always the most expensive thing that's the best.

The problem is that it was REAL cheap.

Your dress was not REAL cheap, it is inexpensive - there is a difference. Private Label by G is a reputable designer that makes quality wedding gowns at an affordable price. My sister wore a Private Label by G dress, and looked stunning on her wedding day, and there was not one single problem with the dress, the bead work, the train - nothing - it was perfect - as will be your dress!!!
