When sending out invites for a Bridal Shower...Do you..

Invite all the women that are invited to the wedding? OR Just close friends and family??

I think it would be silly to invite women I don't even know.
Am I wrong?

I always remember hearing,"If she is invited to the wedding, then she should be invited to the shower".

What do you girls think?

I was told to invite only women I am close to (and that are invited to the wedding). I agree that you shouldn't invite people you don't know (like guests of guys you invited to the wedding).

I only invited those close to me.

I could've invited a whole lot more, but it isn't fair to my BM to pay that much. I kept it at 30 people.

All the wedding etiquette books say showers are for close friends and family. If you invite a lot of people, it makes you look like you're only motive is to receive gifts, since one of the main purposes of a shower is to "shower the bride with gifts"

besides, it's awkward when people you don't know are there and you feel responsible for them!

I only put on my list those who are invited to the wedding AND that I knew. If I didn't know them or never met them, they weren't invited, plain and simple.

the closest women are fine . I am sure there are a lot of wives of friends and girlfriends of friends that do not need to come.

I just gave my mom my list. i only invited the closer group of friends from work, and close friends and family. anyone invited to the shower has to be invited to the wedding, but NOT vice versa!
