Memory Candle??
My dada died years ago and I am looking for a way to honor him at my wedding. I've heard about a memory candle, but don't know anything about it. Does anyone know or have any other ideas?? Thanx!!

Re: Memory Candle??
FH's mom passed on a few years ago and we're going to have a memory candle for her. It'll be lit just before the processional by FH and his brother, and will remain burning for the ceremony to represent her presence and honor her memory. She loved butterflies so we're going to decorate it to look like the pic borrowed from a LIW bride.
Some other ideas include having a picture of them along with the candle. I've also heard of leaving a chair open during the ceremony so that there is a seat saved for them. HTH!

Re: Memory Candle??
Wow...that's a nice idea...I have the chills...I just want my dad's presence there somehow. I am Jewish and FH is Catholic, we are getting married in a church...will they allow that in a church?

Re: Memory Candle??
DH's father passed away several years ago. I bought a pillar candle and a clear pillar holder at AC Moore with a candle ring around it (silk flowers). and we put an 8x10 framed picture of him getting a medal next his plane (he was an Air Force pilot). we had those items set up on a small table right next to our sweetheart table.

Re: Memory Candle??
We are doing 5 memorial candles: FH's mom, my grandpa, FH's maternal grandma, my cousin and FH's best friend.
The candles will be inscribed with the following:
In Loving Memory
This light shines as a symbol of a Life and Love Remembered
Name of FH's best friend
Jean M (www.myjeanm.com) carries them or you can make them on your own I guess (maybe clear vellum and glue or tape )

the picture above is my actual candle. from; www.waxinspirations.theshoppe.com
got this web site from another LIWedding bride, THANK YOU.
This is what the candle says:
This light shines For my Mother Josephine, who is in our hearts on our Wedding Day and Always to bless us in spirit as we begin our life together
I know it's early but I couldn't resist. Since my mom isn't physically here, I needed to include her in on my wedding planning. This is one way I chose to do it.

Re: Memory Candle??
FH's best frind recently passed away and we will have one for him, FH and his deceased friend's girlfriend will light the candle before the priest starts the actual ceremony, so it will burn throughout.

Re: Memory Candle??
WOW, all the candles are beautiful. I cried on this post. This is something that I definately have to do. What a great way to honor those we lost. I know we can have them in church, is it unheard of to have them at the reception, and where would you put them?

Re: Memory Candle??
I think I am going to do it at the reception as well. I was thinking of a table off to a side, maybe next to the cake, with the memory candle and maybe even a picture. I don't want to make anyone cry that day, but I do want to have my dad's presence there...what does everyone think about that idea?

I think that's a great idea.
I think I want mine on the piano when you first walk in to the Vineyards, where they place the seating cards. So when everyone grabs that place card they will see it.

Re: Memory Candle??
We made them for the reception and had them burning on the sweetheart table. They were very easy to make! Just printed what I wanted on vellum paper attached it to the pillar with double sided tape and decorated it with ribbon and rhinestones. I made my unity candle too!
In this pic you can see how we had them on the sweetheart table.

This is really pretty...I also was looking for different ideas, and I really like this. Where was this table put? I like the idea that you have a combo of different things and not just a candle...
