Question about Social Security
I'm going to be going next week to change my name at Social Security and DMV I'm looking at the application for SS and see that it asks for mother and father's ss# as well. Did any of your ladies need to provide that, or do just have the wrong form?
ETA: Did you sign the application with your new name or your maiden name?
TIA

Re: Question about Social Security
I have my mom's SS#, but not my fathers... I don't remember what they said/did about that.
When you sign, you sign with your new name

Re: Question about Social Security
I didn't give them either one of their SS #'s. I believe it says on the application (if you have that information).

Re: Question about Social Security
If you give them your name and SS, they can get your parents. It's in their computer (even if they say it isn't, they like to lie). I used to work for Social Security. I'm not familiar with that form though and didn't change my name. Just wanted to inform you that if they need that info, you can insist that THEY get it, not you!!!
