We bought a puppy!!
I never wanted a dog, DH always did. After a lot of back and forth I gave in and now I'm in love with our puppy Sammy.
P.S. Don't mind the stuff on his nose...

This particular person never has anything nice to say about people who buy their animals. Apparently an animal's life is only worth something after it has to spend time in a shelter or pound.

Thanks ladies. He's a cockerspaniel/poodle mix (cock-a-poo). We bought him at 10 weeks he's 12 now. Lucky coincidence, he was born on my birthday.
We actually did try to adopt a puppy last year and got denied at the Northshore Animal Leage because we worked long hours. And we thought it would be harder to train an older dog.

What about the poor puppies & kittens that sit in the stores...what happens to them if everyone stops buying them? They deserve the same love that the shelter dogs deserve.

Rescue dogs sometimes have issues that can be way too much to deal with. Its not always feasible to adopt. Ive been trying to adopt for a month now, and I cannot get approved because I live in a condo and the dogs I was interested in "required" fenced in yards.

On paper adopting sounds like a great idea but you are right it really isn't that easy. We wanted a small breed young terrier puppy. Not so easy to find. We did adopt my parents dog because they wanted an adult dog. Adult dogs are much easier to find.

re: "adopting" - you have to pay to do that, too. we know - we payed over $200 to adopt a dog, a puppy no less, and ended up bringing her back because of problems unrelated to her. the shelter kept the $$ we paid, which is fine. but it's not like shelter pets are free.
