Bad news.(UPDATE pg 3)
It seems as if Mom's condition is a lot worse than we thought. She has two broken vertebrae and has two choices. She can either a) Stay on her back for 12 weeks in DALLAS where she is right now. OR b) Have surgery and 2 weeks of rehab and will possibly be able to fly home with enough time for some therapy in NY. She could feasibly fly now and have surgery here but if her condition worsened for the sake of our convenience I would never forgive myself. I asked my sister the risks of surgery - she hasnt gotten an answer but we know it could be paralysis or worse- something I am not prepared to think about right now.
All of the last minute stuff I need Mom for now, I will have to do alone or with my sister. It wasnt supposed to be this way. Thanks in advance for all of your support.

Thanks ladies. Its hard enough knowing that Dad won't be there but to think there is a remote chance that Mom won't be there? I dont know what I'd do.

OMG Leslie, it seems when it rains, it pours.
I'm praying for your mom to have a speedy recovery, whatever method she chooses and that she is able to be there for you on your wedding day.
If you need anything, please just ask. You know I am always up late and have no qualms about traveling.
Besides, FH is busy watching the damn Giants game right now.

I am so sorry to hear the bad news. I will keep you in my prayers. I am left alone to do all this wedding stuff too since my mom lives out of state. If you need a buddy let me know! I would be happy to go. I know it is not the same but the offer is always there. We live in the same area too!

I know it's hard, but you have to think about what's best for your mother. You, your mom and your family are in my prayers.
I'm here too. My BM and parents don't live here. So I'm doing it all alone. I can be a buddy too.

Leslie, my heart goes out to you!!! It seems like every corner you turn, something happens Remember one thing, you don't want to jeopardize your mom in any way, so no matter how hard it is, if she can't be there, don't force the issue. I think you would much rather have her health for a long time rather then sacraficing it for 1 day

Leslie-I've been reading your posts with my mouth wide open. I can't imagine your stress level right now.
I have no advice but to wait until you talk to the docs and see what is the best thing for your mom.
I pray that she is feeling better soon and that she will make it to your wedding. I think from what you have told us that your mother will be there come hell or high water..she's a tough cookie.
Keeping your family in my thoughts.

Thanks ladies. 3/4 of us kids so far know it is the best thing to not tempt fate and allow mom to have the surgery in Dallas. I'd never forgive myself if she were transported and further damage was done. Basically the situation stinks. The 4 kids are going to have to take turns flying to TX to help her whenever we can. We have very limited time off. To medivac Mom back to NY could cost $15K or more and I, for sure do NOT want to risk further damage. The break is around her spinal cord. Surgery will fuse something like 6 discs. We can get things done up here. Her safety is first and of course KEY. I feel bad that there are going to be days where she is lonely.
As far as going on with the wedding, it will ultimately be Mom's choice. In my faith, when tragedy strikes, the happiness is supposed to come before the sadness, but I don't know what G-d is trying to say here. It makes me re-think every bad choice I have ever made. What is his plan here? At this point, I feel that I am all out of prayers and my faith has to be with the doctors who are treating her.
I feel bad for FH as there has been a dark cloud over our engagement and wedding plans from day 1. The day we were engaged, we ran to the hospital to tell Dad and I was not able to get the reactions from Dad's that every girl dreams of. Now this? How strong can I ask him to be? This is his day too. This just $uck$ from all ends.
