I don't know yet if I'm going to be able to make it.... my circle of friends have not yet exchanged Kris Kringle gifts and that night seems to be the best date for all of us to get together

Ladies, having been to one of these before, I can say you have nothing to worry about. If you don't want to "walk in" by yourself, then arrange to meet someone outside. But honestly, everyone will be wearing name tags with your screen name and real name (or at least that is what happened last year) and you just meet loads of people that you talk to. You won't have to sit alone. Trust me!
