i just looked at my first place!

So I went to the George Washington Manor today.... have any of you ladies been there for quotes? What do you think.. FH and I loved it?? But I want to know what others have noticed about it just incase there is something that I may have missed when being given the tour

I thought it was beautiful!!! It had the ambiance I was looking for. I decided against it because of the bathroom location. Both mothers are elderly with arthritis, (my mom's is really really bad, to the point that at my sister's wedding she had a particularly bad day and had to walk with a cane) and going up and down stairs to get to the bathroom is a consideration for them. Although there is a bathroom on the same floor as the reception room (instead of going downstair to CH room), it is open for the people in the resteraunt and other rooms, and I didn't want that.

This was not the only place I eliminated based on bathroom accessibility.

I love that place but you'll be more critical of places as you keep looking!

Definitely look at more places. You can use them as a guideline. See if the other places you look at stand up to it. Good luck in finding your reception hall.

FH and I saw, and loved Milleridge (same owners as GWM). I would have loved to look at GW Manor but it was too small for us! I'd keep looking just to see how other places stack up. Even if you choose GWM in the end you know you did your homework! I was thinking of having my RD there b/c our church is right down the street from there! Beautiful place!

I checked out GW. I am not getting married at a church so, ceremony location is key. I was not impressed with the little chapel that was available for the wedding

the place is cute, but i decided against it b/c of all the pics of george washington all over the room i was looking at. i didnt want there to be pics of me and FH with George. i also wasnt crazy about the floors, they were uneven and i got dizzy that day.

when i noticed that i got dizzy, i couldnt picture my 90 year aunts walking around in the place comfortably.

which room was it that had the bad floors? I loved the dark floors in the mount vernon room, it seemed very open and classy to me... I went over to the Milleridge too.. I really like the non wedding hall look, Im from CT so I want to keep it country...

peternchris- did you look at a lot of places before you booked there? what made you decide to go with them?
