I feel bad for FH
I feel bad for my FH its the first christmas without his dad. He has been quiet lately. He loves decorating the house and it seems his heart is not in it but he is doing it any way.
How should I help him? I do not want to be overbearing though. He is someone that keeps his feeling inside and doesn't let them out
Help!

I'm sorry, thats really hard for the both of you
My FH is the same he keeps everything inside, so i can give u advice on what i do
I usually will ask him what is wrong first and if tells me nothing, i just stand by him and let it eventually come out, it always does
I think you should just remind him you are there for him and let him come to you

i'm sorry to hear that.
i think most importantly you just gotta be there for him when he does finally feel like sharing. maybe ask him if there's anything special he would like to remember his dad during x-mas. like buying a personalized ornament and having his dad's name on it...someting like "Merry Christmas in Heaven" or getting a special pic of him and his dad, maybe when he was younger..and getting it framed.
either way, just let him know you understand his sadness and you are right there for him.

I agree with this. Just be there for him when he needs you. And remember that he may not come to you, and he may really not want to talk about it. We all deal with our grief in different ways. I wouldn't push the issue or try to get him to talk about it. Just make sure he knows that you're there for him if he needs you. That's all anybody can do.

I was going through the same thing last year. My FH's father died January of 04. It was very hard for him and he did not even want to celebrate. But he made it. I filled him with love. We talked and cried. It does get easier day by day. Just be with him.

Im going through a similar situtation with FH and the death of his best friend...its just like at times he gets so quiet and i dont know what to do or say...buy i will keep praying for him to get past this

He is just like that to very quiet and FH is never quiet always has a mouth full either to yell, complain, or ask for something.

I lost my father 3 years ago and the holidays are always hard. Just let him know that you are there for him and it's OK if he doesn't want to talk about it.

I agree totally- FH has the same problem
its been 6 years since his dad passed away and he still to this day (rightfully so) feels you know sad... its hard especially during this tiome of year. Just let him know that you are always there for him no matter what- he will appreciate it even if he doesnt express it to you and FH and family

I am going threw the same thing, but it was his sister who passed away in july and it is really hard, bc he keeps it all in... just be there when he needs u!!! lots of hugs and kisses
