We only had 1 person who was invited, couldn’t make it and sent a gift.
I wrote “thank you for your generous gift… blah blah… we’re sorry that you couldn’t make it but we appreciate you thinking about us”
Something like that.

I included a line like "it was so thoughtful of you to remember us on our special day" along with the "thanks for the generous gift..." part.

I wrote something like "Thank you for the generous gift, and for remembering us on our special day. We wish you could be there, we look forward to seeing you soon!"
