we had chocolate, with choc mousse, and choc bavarian cream. DH loves choc. I hate cake so it was fine with me. People loved it because it wasnt your "typical" cake. THe outside what whipped cream.

we had a marble cake but I was at a wedding in Sept that had a chocolate cake--I wanted to do all chocolate by my Dh wanted the marble.

We're definitely having choc. cake. Not sure of filling though.
IMO, Choc is usually more moist than vanilla cake.

here is a pic of ours (it was modelled after the cake in one of the above posts)
We had a chocolate ganache icing, black forest and devil's food cake layers with canoli filling.......it was one of the biggest hits of the wedding. People called just to find out who made the cake b/c they said it was the best wedding cake they had ever had....(PS> it was made by Audrey's for Land's End)

FH & I just discussed this tonight! He wanted chocolate icing, but I vetoed it b/c of our colors, and offered up chocolate cake instead w/ raspberry mouse filling, and whipped cream frosting. I hate buttercream.
