Repost from 2006 Board...Las Vegas Question
I am going with some of my friends for a 'Pre-Wedding' Vacation in June. There will be 5 of us. We already booked the flight & will book the hotel after the holidays. There will be 5 of us in 1 hotel room - are certain hotels very strict with that? I mean do you need to show a room key to go up the elevator or lay by the pool? Most hotels only allow 4 in a room.
We want to stay at the Hard Rock or The Palms. Possibly even Mandalay Bay or Caesars Palace.

we stayed at the excelsior, and to go up to the rooms you had to flash a key, but only one of us had to show a key to go up, not both...

Mandolay Bay is strict with it. I don't know about the other hotels. However, a lot of the hotels now require you to stick your key in a slot in the elevator as a security measure for it to go anywhere (I know Mandolay and the Luxor do this).

i stayed at the venetian. you have to show your key to go up to your room and to go to the pool. We had 4 in our room, but a few friends were staying at another hotel and would often come back with us to the room or hang out by our pool and it was no problem. they didn't require each guest to show their key, it was a per group thing.

I went to Vegas back in August and there were about 9 of us.... We stayed at the Venetian and requested adjoining rooms..... There were 9 of us all together, and no one ever gave us a problem about 5 being in one room. The Venetian has very large rooms with a pull out sofa bed, so we were all able to sleep very comfortably. I doubt you will have a problem. Plus who sleeps or even stay in their room when they are in vegas. I heard that is why they never really make the rooms "that" nice....Because they want you in the casino spending money or at the bar drinking instead.

yup, the room i stayed in was in the new Venezia towers and it was big enough for 5 easily. pull out sofa & 2 queen or king (i forget) beds
