Okay I have a small vanity question to ask.
Okay let me explain. I come from a family of big, very healthy teeth. I've never had a cavity in my whole life. Not as a kid nor an adult, nor has my full blooded brother. But my teeth are large and to be honesty I hate my smile. I never liked it. My teeth aren't really buck teeth but they are very big and I my front teeth cover the two bottom teeth. A friend of mine who enjoyed the miltery was ordered in boot camp to have her teeth filed down by the denist there. I'm seriously thinking about doing this for my wedding. My FH doesn't think its a good idea because I have such healthy teeth that I shouldn't mess with them. But they are becoming a problem in a few things, private things, but they are still effecting my life. Do you guys think I should get them filed or should I leave them they way they are?

Re: Okay I have a small vanity question to ask.
I think you should consult a dentist first. You don't want to end up getting them filed by a cosmetic dentist and destroying any enamel or nerves.
If the dentist gives the okay, then go for it.

Good advice., Chris.
I had a front tooth that I was very self concious of b/c it was fang like - . Anyway, I finally had the dentist file it down before my 10 year HS reunion a couple of years ago, and I wondered why it took me 28 years to do it! I was very happy with the results!

I was thinking about filing down the two front teeth. They're the ones giving me most of my problems!

Ember...you are probably your worse critic. I think it is all of the imperfections that make people beautiful. I wouldn't recommend it, but if it would make you feel better about yourself then go for it. IMO a big toothy smile is awesome.

Once again...Christine hits the nail right on the head. Definitely consult the dentist first.
When I was 16 I had bonding done on my four top front teeth. They had small gaps that no one really noticed, but me and could not be corrected by braces. To this day I still feel that's the best $200 my Mom ever spent. The confidence it gave me is priceless.

Re: Okay I have a small vanity question to ask.
I def think you should speak to your dentist with your concerns and they might provide an alternative to filing.

Re: Okay I have a small vanity question to ask.
I can only speak from experience because i know what you're talking about. I have two large front teeth and even though they don't cover the bottom teeth, but they are still very large. Most everyone in my family have the same front teeth. Well both my brother and i have had our teeth filed down because we were a little self-conscious about it. Its really no big deal and my dentist did it in 2 seconds. If it bothers you... than i say get it done. And just so you know... filing mine down hasn't affected my teeth at all, cavity or otherwise. Good luck!

Re: Okay I have a small vanity question to ask.
I would leave them be. I've had caps and root canals and lots of work done b/c I had no choice. I'll probably have to get the caps redone too so I'm not even finished. All I'm saying is OUCH. So, if your teeth don't bother you and you don't need anything done, then I'd avoid it. JMO. Anyway, big teeth=big smile and that's a good thing. Good Luck with whatever you decide!

Just so you know... it doesn't hurt to get your teeth filed. Doesn't hurt at all.
