Are you supposed to tip the Pastor or the church?

Re: Brides who got married in church.....Question about tipping Pastor
Actually, the Best Man is supposed to tip the Priest/Pastor. But, if he doesn't do his duty, you should take care of it.

Just like everything else, I know that this is falling onto me.
So do I tip the pastor in ADDITION to donating to the church? If so, how much?

Re: Brides who got married in church.....Question about tipping Pastor
My Priest is doing me a big favor so I am most likely giving him $100.00. Plus he is my a close family friend. But if he wasn't I would only give $50.

Re: Brides who got married in church.....Question about tipping Pastor
You actually dont have to tip anyone in the church, they take that as an insult - it makes what they are doing into some kind of business.... also, a "donation" is usually included in the fee for the wedding

That is what I thought. Since I am a member of the church, there is no fee...but they ask for a donation.

Re: Brides who got married in church.....Question about tipping Pastor
I dont think anyone would take an offense to some extra money, if the priest doesnt want it he can use it for the church... our priest told us $450.00 for the mass plus whatever you feel like giving to the church...

Re: Brides who got married in church.....Question about tipping Pastor
We tipped our Deacon $50. I work with a Deacon and asked him if it was the correct thing to do. He said he very much appreciates any tip or gift.
