my dress size
i am ordering my dress from online. before i did this i went to davids bridal and tried on dresses there. i was a size 2. so i ordered a size 2 in the dress i want from a different place. i have to wait extra long to get it b/c 2's are so rare (so says the woman) she also told me that most people who order 2's send them back in need of the next size up. this is freeking me. i went by the size chart from the online store and i lined up. do you girls think ill be ok? i have read how everyones dress was like 10 sizes bigger then their normal size.

Re: my dress size
I don't want to scare you, becasue I don't really know how it works, but in real life I am a 10 and my gown according to their size chart was orderd in a 16 and it fits..and I have lost weight, so what if you go to a seamstress and get your measurements and then go by those, sorry I don't think that was all that helpful

Re: my dress size
I am usually a size 4 and my dress was ordered in a 6. I was between a 6 and a 8 on the size chart.
Also, when I was trying on dresses, I tried on a dress that was a 10 and it fit me perfect. The lady at the store said I was a perfect size 10, but a 10 is really a 6 or so.
Every designer sizes are different. I would go with a 4 to be on the safe side. You can always have it taken in. It is easier then having it taken out.

Re: my dress size
I ordered a 2 as well and I think that it should be okay if they measured you correctly. Don't stress it.

Re: my dress size
I complained in a whole buch of other threads abut this - I'm a size 4 and my dress is a 14 - I'm sure everyone else is sick of hearing this, but if I don't post more often I'll be a newbie forever...

Re: my dress size
Each manufacturer is different. Get yourself measured and ask someone at a bridal shop based on your measurements what size fits the manufacturers measurements for that dress.

Re: my dress size
I'd say get measured by a seamstress, then go up one size, just in case. It's easier to take in than to let out. Good Luck!!!!

Re: my dress size
Def go for the bigger size, it's easier to take a dress in then to let it out. I'm usually a size 4 but when I was measured for my gown we ordered a size 8!
Back in the day women were smaller, over time as women generally got bigger the clothing industry followed suit and made their sizes bigger to fit. However, the wedding industry stayed the same so we're being fitted today for sizes that are from yesterday.

Re: my dress size
Who is the dress made by? I know that when I was shopping most dresses ran small but some designers run true to size. Ex. Forever yours ran true to size(at least the one I tried)

Re: my dress size
When I ordered my dress, they took my measurements and then we looked up what size that would be. They had a book with all different designers and what size to order. With my designer I ordered a 10, with others I would have been a 12. I am normally a size 8.

Re: my dress size
Well, I am between a 6 and 8 in street clothes, my dress was ordered as a 10, but then taken in at least 1/2 inch on each side, so I'm not sure if I would have been OK with the 8, but many people have told me that bridal sizes are still holding true to the past, which is about 2 sizes bigger than what you are.
Sorry if this doesn't really help......

Re: my dress size
I usually wear a 10 in "bottoms" (I have a big butt and a small chest, I wear about a 6 in jackets) Anyhow, the sample of my dress was a 10, it fit me really well, so I ordered a 10.
In my limited experience, they order by how your measurements fit on the size chart for the designer. Since I have a big butt, they probably would have ordered be a couple of sizes bigger if the sample didn't fit so well becuase my butt measurement would have been in line with a 12 or 14. This happened to me with a BM dress a few years ago, too.
If the size you ordered makes sense with your measurements, you'll be fine!

Re: my dress size
What size are you in real clothes? If you're a zero then you prob should be fine. I'm a 2 in real clothes and my dress was ordered in a 6 (I was b/w a 4 & 6).
