Question regarding generous guests
Hi ladies - We went through our envelope gifts yesterday when we got back home. Two people gave much more than we think they can afford. (I know, not a bad problem to have!)
Has anyone faced the situation? Should we call them, or just figure that they gave what they were comfortable with?

Write them an extra nice thank you note. I would feel put out if I had given generously and someone questioned whether or not I could afford it.

We once gave to what the recipient felt was an overly generous gift and she called us. We told her to keep it and enjoy it. We gave her and her DH a good/generous gift by NY standards but apparently an OMG gift for an OOT wedding. She and her DH gave the same amount to us for our wedding and to us, it was the average amount we received from a couple.

We had several people like this also, and a couple of them weren't even invited to the wedding!
DH and I talked about it, and we decided to not say anything. If people choose to be very generous, we didn't want to embarass them by pointing out that they should not have done that. But we did write very nice thank yous, and since we got married, opportunities to help one of the couples in a small way came up, so we helped.
I know how you feel though. We were sort of uncomfortable accepting something that we know they can't afford.
