Does everyone like their engagement ring?
I was just curious if everyone likes their engagement ring. I am not to fond of it. It's cute It is a heart shape diamond and silver but I know it is from Walmart. I just feel like he should have saved up alittle while and got something else. All of his other friends have rings that cost in the thousands. Then when I come with my walmart special it just doesn't look right.
Also I feel we have broken engagements before. So Many fights I think a fresh start which what we are having with the new date maybe a new ring
I want everything right this time.

Honey .....I know Iam going to sound like a Witch ...but maybe you should give it back and tell him how you feel about it...its JMO and I dont mean to be nasty - But he should wait and save like you said and want to put more into it - I am not saying he has to spend 5k or anything even a good 1/2 CT from a jewler would be wonderful! and you can always upgrade later if thats what you wanted to do, your worth it ....he can even make payments your not even married yet if he isnt willing to make an effort now its only going to get hard as things move along

Oh I hear you -it ***** when you want to be giddy and cheesey and show off-but if you really want to be with him then hurting his feelings won't help-I feel like a ring is something that is given to you with thought behind it and "we" are in no real position to be demanding about it-
maybe if you show him it is not about the ring * and sport that bad boy like it is 10 carats* he will want to upgrade to make you happy-

I can see what you are saying however, I think that you should accept the ring and be grateful because some people do not get any. Try not to compare him and his friends. Maybe they can afford to buy rings for their ladies for $$$ but maybe your FH cannot afford to. Even though it is not what you like be thankful and look at it as it is coming from the bottom of his heart. Remember marriage is not about the ring but the love and commitment to each other. A lot of people are married for years and did not even have a bling bling on their fingers. I am quite happy and satisfied with what my DH gave me and even if he did give me something that was not my taste I would accept it and be humble.

Lately I have been feeling bad about how I have treated the ring.

Oh I agree that its not all about the ring ....thats why i said it not like you need something big and flashy you dont want him to go broke ....but put a little effort into it ....It doent even have to be a diamond a lot of girls have non-diamond e-rings

You should try to proceed with caution because it can really be a problem especially with him.

Honey trust me I understand! I guess if he isnt willing to give on it ....which I dont think is fair but JMO- then you have a choice live with it its not the end of the world you love each other or its going to drive you crazy and put space in between you guys....I have a question for you ....which is he so unwilling to do anything about it if it know that it bothers you

The love between the 2 of you should not be about a ring. If he got the ring from Walmart or Tiffany it shouldn't be a reflection of how much thought went into buying the ring. No matter what kind of ring it is or where he bought shouldn't matter. What should matter is that he loves you so much that the put thought into the fact that he wants to spend the rest of his life with you!
WEAR YOUR RING WITH PRIDE
and remember
even though you might think that other girls have a "better" ring then you, it doesn't mean that they have a better relationship or more love from their man then you do.

I think there is aways the options like ask him for your 1 year anniversary if you can maby pick out something a little different. I understand what you are saying but IMO I think if you do mention you dont like the ring, there might be some hurt feelings. Think about it.

I agree, I'm sure his feeling would be hurt. I also agree that the ring is just a ring, a symbol, the most important thing is your love for each other, your bond. But you can always hint in exchanging the ring for another one if you really don't like it.

I am very hapy with my ring and I feel its the one gift that should be well thought out.... you should be happy with it. It does not have to be extravagant but it should look like he put thought and effort into it.... Besides settling now will it lead to a lifetime of unthoughtful gifts?

Maybe he did think it was thoughtful?
I love my ring, but more importantly, I love the relationship and commitment I have with my FH.
When my parents got married they had a - are u ready- single band ceremony- e.g.- my mother wore a man's wedding band and my dad wore nothing! Later on when they had the money she got the ring she always dreamed about!
You'd be surprised of how many people choose to get "small" rings now, and then the bigger ones for their 5 or 10 year anniversary!
I guess what I am trying to say is if you are truly happy in your relationship then it doesn't matter about your ring!

A ring is just a ring, it doesnt measure the amount of love or trust you have with FH.
If you truly dont like it b/c it isnt your style that is one thing-then tell him that.
