Postage

For all the '06 brides - I heard on the news this morning that as of January, postage is going up from .37 to .39. I just wanted to give you a heads up. Happy Planning!!!

Of course it is. I have a whole package of stamps left over from my STD's. Now I will have to buy stupid 1 cent stamps.

Re: Postage

I just called the post office. We are sending the invites in the beginning of December, so we will be fine for the invites.

Now the tricky part is the response cards. Do we use a 37 with a 2 cent or just pay more for the 60 cent stamp to look better.

Well it comes down to do would you rather spend .02 more on the stamp x the amount of invites or .23 more on each stamp...

Personally for me, I would rather spend the .02 on each!

Nah, this is something that was unforseen! Plus weddings are so much $$, why spend an extra .23 on something that you don't have to!

I emailed the post office to see when they will start selling the .39 cent stamps. I am sending my invites out in the beg of Feb also

On this one, Id pay extra. My invites are rather formal and expensive and I would rather use one stamp that is pretty. Maybe it is shallow and impractical but it is my preference and would irk me to death if it didnt look right in my eyes - my only true Bridezilla moment I guess. I suppose we all have the things we spend $$ on that others find excessive and unnecessary.

ETA: I just figured the cost differential - it is only $31.50 - not too much.

Re: Postage

leslie - i would just use the 37 cent stamp and have your return address on the front and back of the envelope b/c even if returned for insufficient postage it would still come to you

you don't want to do this! If you do, when the post office stamps "Insufficient postage" it will ruin the entire envelope

How about the breast cancer 45 cent stamps? At least they look better than the eagle or flag 2 cent stamps, ya know?? I think I might go with those.....

The 45 cents may be an option. Nevr thought of that. Still more money but not as much. And at least the money will go to a good cause. Shoot, people have worse problems than this. Why am I whining???

Now that is official I can complain! I actually budgeted for postage when I made out the wedding budget. Not that 2 cents per response card is going to break the bank, but how much of an increase will there be for the invite itself?? I hate when you have a plan/budget and something messes it up!
