Pregnant Bridesmaid Protocol?
Could somebody (PLEASE) advise me on the proper protocol for the following situation?
A Bridesmaid for a Summer 2006 wedding has recently found out she is pregnant. What now? This obviously will affect gown shopping and fittings... OUCH! By then, she'll probably be ready to pop. How is this normally handled? Does the bridesmaid (regretfully) let the bride down because of dress issues, or do fitting centers deal with this sort of thing regularly? Oh my gosh! Please tell me there is a happy way to handle this!

Re: Pregnant Bridesmaid Protocol?
My cousin was a MOH and she was pregnant with twins. She was definitely "ready to pop." If you haven't already picked out gowns, perhaps look for A-line gowns, easier to work with. Or you could have your bridesmaids wear different types of gowns, so long as they are all the same color, material and designer. I know many brides do that. Good luck!!

Re: Pregnant Bridesmaid Protocol?
I went to a wedding where the MOH was 39 week pregnant. They just ordered a much bigger size. It all worked out great!!

Re: Pregnant Bridesmaid Protocol?
This is nothing new here. Ask the professionals where you plan on purchasing your BM dresses. they will instruct you accordingly I assure you.

Re: Pregnant Bridesmaid Protocol?
My best friend just found out that her due date is 2 days before our wedding. Since there is no way to gauge the size of someone or when she'll actually have the baby she isn't ordering the BM dress with the other girls. She wants to but I think it's a waste of money. We'll wait until we get closer to the time and find an appropriate dress for her to wear that she'll be comfortable in. I don't need her to match perfectly, just be there and be as comfortable as possible at 9 months!

Re: Pregnant Bridesmaid Protocol?
I am in the same situation. One of My BM's is trying right now so she'll most likely be pretty big by the time my wedding comes around. David's bridal has maternity BM dresses if you are interested in that. I would just make sure the color matches, no biggie

Re: Pregnant Bridesmaid Protocol?
it will be just fine- if shes uncomfortable she can step down but otherwise, something cal always be done- they can order more material, etc.
it will work out just fine but if she says she may not be able to be in it, id be understanding to her

Re: Pregnant Bridesmaid Protocol?
Funny you should ask this question.
I am so in this position right now - being the pregnant bridesmaid. My due date is May 28 - I am supposed to be in a wedding June 10. I am not sure what to do. I want to be in the wedding so bad - this is one of my closest friends. But I don't know, if I will even have the baby by then (most women in my family always deliver their babies late). And if I deliver a couple of days before the wedding, I could still be in the hospital or on my way home.
If I was the bride, I would see what that BM wants to do and work it when a decision is made. If the decision is made that the BM still wants to be in the wedding, plan what you can with the dresses that will work for that BM.

Re: Pregnant Bridesmaid Protocol?
My MOH will be 8 months pregnant at the time of my wedding. We chose an a-line, empire waisted dress and she is going to get fitted with the baby's (and her) growth in mind. Ask someone at the bridal shop - I am sure they deal with this all the time.
