choosing maid of honor...

I'm still early yet with deciding/asking my girls to be in my wedding, but I have a bit of a dilemma. I'm going to have 6 of my best friends in my bridal party, (I have no sisters/close female relatives) but I can't decide who to ask to be my Maid of Honor. Three of the girls are friends from 'home' the other three are friends from college. I love all these girls like sisters, and every day I feel the "closest" to a different one!

So my question is do you have to have a MOH?

Re: choosing maid of honor...

If I were in your shoes, I would not pick anyone. Being that they are all 'equal' to you, I would sit them down and explain to all of them at the sametime that you are not going to pick one because you want them all. Maybe to make them feel special, have a different bouquet for each girl.

I wouldn't pick anyone. If you are equally close to all of them, then have them all be BM or say they are all MOH. That's a tough one, but you also have to do what you feel is right. Keep us posted!

Re: choosing maid of honor...

Maybe you could "assign" them each a different activity. Like one leads the shower planning, one the bachlorette party, one can make sure all the dresses are ordered/picked up on time, one could sing the marriage license as the witness, one could keep you calm the night before the wedding, and one could be in charge of the emergency needs the day of.

Re: choosing maid of honor...

You don't have to have one,or you can all sit them down together, put their names all in a hat or bag, and pick out a name, of course if they are each equally closer to you. MY sister did that with us, because there is 4 girls in my family. She couldn't pick one, she didn't want deelings to get hurt, but we all understood that it was fair and square.
Good Luck

Re: choosing maid of honor...

Maybe you don't have to have an actual "maid of honor" but i know you have to have a witness..to at least sign your marriage certificate right after the ceremony.. so someone will have to be chosen for that. at least I think so anyway... but i guess anyone can serve as a witness.

Re: choosing maid of honor...

You don't have to have a MOH if you don't want to or can't decide. It's your wedding, do whatever you want! I know it's hard to chose, I have a sister who I choose and I choose my best friend who chose me for her MOH, but I still have other close friends, but they understood. So I can totally sympathize with you!
