Re: Such a pet peeve
There is nothing wrong with using the HC stall.
Haha, I would like to see you standing in line at the bathroom in penn station, and tell all the people behind you, sorry you have to wait, b/c all the stalls are full and I won't use the handicap stall just in case a HC person comes in.
You would be making any friends that way

Re: Such a pet peeve
I feel bad if I have offended anyone. I am very sensitive to the issues of people with disabilities. I work in a day treatment center for children and adults with a multitude of diagnoses. Over ten years time, I have implemented the use of various devices in order to make lives easier for those who need it.
My own mother uses a cane, and 75% of the time a wheelchair if she needs to walk any sort of distance. Every step she takes is full of excruciating and rather debilitating pain. Her knees are shot, she is arthritic as well as a recent cardiac patient having had triple bypass surgery in February.
Her main concern for the many upcoming functions we have (a Bar Mitzvah next Saturday, the wedding in February and a Bat Mitzvah in May) is how will she be able to get up and down at temple? She worries about walking down the aisle without pain. When she had a fitting for her dress, she had to hold on to me so she could relieve the pressure on her back and knees - she was almost in tears. She is embarrassed to have to sit under the chuppah rather than stand as most parents do. I told her that G-d makes dispensations for those with disabilities and would not judge.
Mom is a senior citizen at 73 years old. She uses these special stalls. She uses handicapped parking. If those stalls and spots arent available to her, she does her best and adapts with little if any complaint. It isnt easy to see anyone struggle, especially if it is someone very close to you. I have learned to increase my sensitivity to her as her child, a woman and just a plain old human being.
And again, I say we should just be conscious of ourselves and make better choices. Maybe we all learned something from this.

Why of why do people use the handicap stall when there are plenty of other open stalls? I think that is so rude !!!

I hope none of you ladies do this
LMAO I am guilty of this!!!!!!
I don't do it 100% of the time, but I've definitetly done it before!!!

Re: Such a pet peeve
Ummm...... If there is not a handicap person waiting for the larger stall.... I have no problem using it.... After all, I am only in there for like 1 min.
I would NEVER park in a handicap spot though.... That is just not right.... but the bathroom I think differently about.
