How many of you are taking pics w/FH before ceremony?

We are having our 3:30p ceremony at Crest Hollow, f/b coctail hour and then recption. Basically we only have the cocktail hour for pictures of "US", and "US" w/family and BP.
I've tried to convince FH to see each other before the ceremony for pics especially since we are spending 9K on photo and video. I can't imagine getting all of my must have pics in 1 hour.
Has anyone done this or will be doing? Does it really ruin the feeling of seeing each other for the 1st time at the altar?

We're doing it....we want to enjoy our cocktail hour and plus our ceremony and reception is at the same location with no break in between. So it's either take pics before, or miss the CH and one hour of the reception. Not a hard decision!!!

We are still making the moment we first see each other special and will be caught on film.

That and my MOH told me if she could change one thing, that would have been it. We missed half the reception because of pictures at her wedding, and that was even WITH an hour and half break in between.

Ugghhh, It's so frustrating that he won't give in. I know myself and I will hate the pressure of hurrying thru the pics!!!

MY FH didn't want to see me before the ceremony either. But once he realized how tight of a schedule we were on, he changed his mind.

If you read some of the reviews on this site, you will see every bride that took pictures beforehand does not regret the decision at all!!

we saw each other. it was reversed for us in that my family was adament about NOT seeing each other but dh and i were for it. he felt that seeing me before would put him at ease and it helped my nerves a lot. and my favorite pictures are those taken when we JUST saw each other. you are spending a ton of money. pictures are so important but they are there to capture you two enjoying the day. and that is what you need to do. enjoy the day not stress. remind him that people run late and that in all honesty, you can miss a lot of the party. good luck!

We did it and I wouldnt of changed it for the world! We were able to get TONS of pics before hand and were able to spend time with everyone at our CH. We were still table to have our "first meeting" be special. No one was there but us and it was wonderful. I scanned some proofs of our first meeting yesterday but they are blurry. I will post them anyways and when I get better quality ones I will show u. I definately recommend seeing him beforehand, especially if you are going to be strained for time.

We are going to do it, we also are having ceremony on site, then cocktail hr, then reception, and we didnt' want to miss it. Plus we would have to see each toher before the cermeony anyway, b/c we have to sign the Ketubah (Jewish marriage contract)....

We did the photos beforehand because our time schedule was tight (no cocktail hour--daytime wedding).

DH still got choked up when he saw me come down the aisle even though we had been together beforehand.

Same situation. Ceremony is at 5:30, CH is at 6, Recpt at 7. Not enough time to get pics without rushing so we are seeing each other before the ceremony. We plan on having that "special moment" when we see each other for the first time....and the fact that it is private and not in front of dozens of friends and family makes both our reaction much more genuine.

I can't wait.

Thank you so much ladies. It sounds like it can be just as special to have that first meeting alone. Besides that I am Jewish (he's not) and if we have a Ketubah we will end up seeing each other before anyway.

We are taking pics before. Our ceremony is at 12, CH at 12:30, rec. at 1:30. We don't want to miss any of our party to take pics! Besides, I think it will really calm our nerves to see eachother first, and I don't think it will ruin anything. In fact, by seeing eachother before, we can have a few moments alone after the "moment" instead of everyone staring at us.

we're getting married next Sunday at 5pm, after daylight savings ends. It will be pitch black outside by then.

We wanted outdoor foliage pictures, so we’re seeing each other before.

We waited until the ceremony. I can't describe how it felt to walk down the aisle and seeing my husbands reaction. He was crying and it was the most beautiful sight. Everyone keeps talking about how moving it was, and when people bring it up I get to relive it everytime!
We did miss our cocktail hour, but I don't care.

I am so happy we saw each other before and took pics before the ceremony. The photographer, DH, my parents, and I went to the planting fields arboretum to take pics beforehand. I liked how we had our "moment" of seeing each other for the first time with no one else around besides my parents and the photographer. Some of my favorite shots were at the arboretum and we wouldn't have had those shots unless we took pics before the ceremony. After the arboretum we went to the Crescent to take family and BP pics. We finished everything before the ceremony so we were able to enjoy the cocktail hour. Neither of us wanted to miss any of the party.

Seeing DH before the ceremony also kept me calm and grounded. I'm glad we were able to enjoy every minute of our wedding day together.

Also, I wouldn't miss the cocktail hour food - it's the best part

We will see each other beforehand..it was actually FH's idea. I was against it at first but the more I thought about it the better of an idea I thought it was. I'm really the nervous type and I agree with others that it will probably be calming and help me get through the ceremony without being a big shaky ball of nerves! Also we're having some great stuff at our cocktail hour and I would like to be there for at least part of it!

We yook pics before the ceremony and were so glad that we did. The day was stressful enough without having to rush our photos. Tell your FH that you can have your photg set up a special moment for just the two of you to see each other for the first time. We had our moment on the beach. It was the most amazing moment of my life!
