Would You Be Pissed If
you confirmed a Monday appointment with a vendor on Saturday, and then showed up, waited 1/2 hour, and no vendor? Then after you get home, there are 3 messages asking to reschedule, none of which you received before the appointment, and the excuse is leak in the ceiling. I mean, hello, the rain stopped on Friday, wasn't the ceiling leaking then? How about when I confirmed the appointment on Saturday? Why call today? And when you didn't get the call back, confirming that I got the message why weren't you there for the appointment? After all, same vendor said if I arrived 15 minutes early and vendor wasn't there, it meant she went home for dinner and would be right back. I am so annoyed!

Re: Would You Be Pissed If
Yes - you should be annoyed. I'd probably cancel the appointment all together (unless I had a really good feeling about her and believed her story was genuine). Sounds like that isn't the case here though...

Re: Would You Be Pissed If
I went through a similar thing with a reception hall. After some problems that were a bit aggravating we finally had an appt to see the place. We showed up and only the asst was there and was told she never knew an appt had been booked. She called the woman in charge and she said 'oops'! That was my final straw. I never went back.
It depends on if this was a first screw up, or a last straw for you.

Re: Would You Be Pissed If
I would be extremely annoyed especially if there were other things I could have been doing with that time. If it were me, I'd not reschedule the appointment and find someone who actually values clients.

Re: Would You Be Pissed If
I personally wouldn't be annoyed b/c the vendor at least made the effort in trying to reschedule instead of blatantly forgetting about the appointment.
Leaking ceiling or not - things come up. Vendors are human and things do indeed come up.
I've had to canccel appointments with vendors at the very last minute (ie: ten minutes after I'm supposed to do thing) and if they can understand, so can I.

I agree, if nothing else, it shows some disorganization in her camp that she couldn't think to call you sooner than DURING you scheduled meeting time to cancel.
but as with everything else, go with your gut.

Re: Would You Be Pissed If
Yes I would be annoyed and probably wouldn't reschedule.
However you must think, yeah the rain probably did stop on Friday but the vendors work Friday, Saturday, Sunday. They probably got the message on Monday I am not saying it's right it's just probably what happened! So I could actually see the situation happening!

Re: Would You Be Pissed If
Under the circumstances I would be annoyed, simply bc as you said the rain did stop on Friday, and you did confirm the appointment on Saturday.
On the same note however, I think sometimes we forget how many time we've cancelled with our vendors giving them the most lamest excuses under the sun...

I have yet to cancel an appointment with a vendor. Even when I thought I had found "the vendor" I wanted, I still made sure I met with whoever I had an appointment with. Good thing too, because that is how I found my photographer, by keeping an appointment after we thought we had found "the one". Not to say it won't happen in the future, but even in last week's deluge I kept every single appointment I had, and some of them were trips that were over an hour.
Maybe I'm just a little burnt from planning and taking this a little too seriously, but I would think if vendor knows (or can reasonably be expected to know) I didn't get the message to cancel, or reschedule, she could have been there. After all, she told me she might go home for dinner, so if I was early and the shop was closed not to worry about it. If she lives close enough to go home for dinner and come back for my appointment, why didn't she come back when she knew I didn't get the message???

I totally understand why you're royally pi$$sed off, like I mentioned in my previous post, I would be too. But speaking from my personal experience-I did cancel out on vendors due to last minute change in plans, and most people do too. Sometime things happen, and although they did give you a lame excuse, don't let it bother you so much. Maybe its a sign that you shouldn't meet with this vendor at all... In any event good luck!

I would be annoyed. If you like the vendor, give them the benefit of the doubt and try again. If it was me though, I would probably say screw them and look for someone else.

Got a message from the vendor. She said they didn't know about the roof leaking until Sunday, when the landlord started fixing the ceiling in the store adjacent to them, and it caused their ceiling to start caving in. She said the power was shut off in half the store, and the landlord told her to clear out. Now, I was there last night, and it didn't look to me like the lights were only on in half the store. All the widnows were lit up. She did apologize profusely. I think I'm just burnt.
