They are VERY touristy! DO not go to Mars 2112. It is full of kids and the food is terrible.
Go to Carmines for dinner. It is family style and great food. Carolines Comedy club is right down the block.

Carmines is awesome!! If you go w/ 15 or more people you could get a price fix thing - I think around $60pp. Dip is also a great place to go - www.dipcafe.com - it is like a lounge, no cover though. They have all different types of drinks and a small menu - but the best part is they have different types of fondue!! So yummy. They've got dessert fondue and regular food fondue. The menu is on the website. Check it out!

FYI: J&H does not take credit cards.

For a casual bar, I like Coppersmiths on 9th ave around 57th, 58th.

Re: city places

The city has so many great places. For bars that are not too expensive, I like 2nd avenue in the 40s-52nd. Opal is always a good time. Restaurants, I love the Red Eye Grill a little pricy but awesome! Get the Zagat night life review book. It is a great help.

Re: city places

Canyon Road is a great mexican place on 1st ave and 76th street. They have a bar, and there are a bunch of other bars in the area.

There is also an Italian place right near there called Bardolino's. it's really good and really cheap.

Il Bagato is an Italian place on the lower east side. Good, cheap Italian.

They charge a small entertainment fee. Maybe ten dollars for the table? Don't remember. Otherwise it was a lot of fun. Kinda Halloweenish. I think maybe more for kids than adults though.
