SWR: Dermotologist Question (Kinda Gross - Warning!)
What happens if you get one of those HUGE zits that sits under your skin (has a heartbeat) and doens't come out close to your wedding? And makeup doesn't cover it up!
Can you go to a dermotologist to get rid of it somehow?
I've heard about those injections, but haven't heard much - can anyone clarify?
TIA!!!!

I think they give you an injection of cortisone to reduce the swelling.

Yes, its a very small needle and it doesn't hurt (that much). The cortisone reduces the swelling, so it would be significantly smaller in about 2 days. If not, those gigantic ones under the skin could take a week or more to die!

Not sure- when I got them a few years ago, my insurance covered it, I paid the co-pay, just like a regular office visit.

I was worked for a derm who did this. I used to get the injections as soon as the deep ones started. The sooner you get one the quicker it works. Insurance does cover it.

I saw on the TV News "Gotta Have It", this gadget called the Zeno Zit Zapper. They tried it and said it worked. Reduces a zit overnight?! But it is $$$. We brides2be should chip in and share one!!

Yup, this is what they do. I have had it done many times. Also, try Preperation H to reduce swelling on the skin. Obviously not a used tube!!

Re: SWR: Dermotologist Question (Kinda Gross - Warning!)
I've found that an epsom salt compress brings the swelling down a lot but there is still redness. Warm, wet paper towel folded over small. Pour the salt in the middle (cup it a bit), dribble some water in to make it a paste/mush. Slap it on and leave it for a while, add water if it dries out...

Re: SWR: Dermotologist Question (Kinda Gross - Warning!)
If you have a derm, tell him or her that you're worried about getting this kind of pimple. You should be able to go get an injection of cortizone. My derm was really nice (Donna Serure in Smithtown) and wrote on my chart that I could come in anytime in March (!) even the morning of for an injection if I woke up with this type of pimple. Thank God....I didn't. But the stress level went down when she told me I could do that!

Re: SWR: Dermotologist Question (Kinda Gross - Warning!)
yeah, dermatologists should be able to treat most skin issues right before your wedding...
back 30 years ago when my mom got married, she broke out in hives because she was so nervous, and she went to her dermatologist and he put her under some kind of heat lamp and her hives cleared right up!
