I happen to love Paprazzi In Westbury (they have a picture of Johnny Depp in the lobby, so it might not be the food I love  )
Ivy Cottage in Williston Park is good as well - small, cute, and yummy!

I like Cafe Spasso on Old Country Road.
La Parma in Williston Park has amazing Italian food.
If you're ruling out Chilis does that mean no Cheesecake Factory either? I have yet to order something there I dont love!

Not sure about the Garden City one....but there's one in Rockville Centre across the street from my brother's deli....so you can either go to the restaurant or get sandwiches from my brother (tell him you know me from the internet - he'll love it )

Waterzooie is good but I think a little pricy. DH and I went there for dinner one night with another couple and the bill was close to $300. VIctory is very good next door. Alot of the GC restuants are good you could try...
Uptown Grill
Asian Moon
Gramaldi's
are all on Franklin Ave
On 7th Street
Walk Street is really good and then seventh Street Cafe.
