FMIL WANTS TO BRING A MARRIED MAN as a GUEST TO OUR WEDDING

I WANT TO TELL HER OFF.... I CAN BARELY EVEN CONTAIN MYSELF...

what would you do? i probably can't even say anything right?

eta
it is just so wrong to be the mother of the groom and have the nerve to show up there with a married man - shame on both of them. this is the first time she's even bringing up the issue to me, CUZ I FINALLY HAD TO ASK is she bringing a guest or NOT since the wedding is in 19 days. i'm HORRIFIED.

Would she bring him as a DATE? If she's just friends with him I don't see it as a problem. If this makes you uncomfortable then of course you have to let her know that.

YES as a date!!! I spoke to FSIL about this and she says she is 100% convinced they are more than just friends but FMIL will not admit that to me I'm sure... I don't know if it is my place to say something???

What would I say?

um... i guess you should tell her that he should take his ring off before coming

Just a little joke! Ok seriously this is a tuffy. speak to FSIL maybe she can try to convince her mom not to do it. they are soo close that it just might be better coming from her.

sorry about the drama a mere 19 days before the best day of your whole life (until baby comes!!)

I THINK I'M GOING TO BE SIIIIICK.

You know, we had suspicions she would try to do this, BUT I NEVER ACTUALLY THOUGHT SHE'D HAVE THE AUDACITY.

That's a tough one but I am with you about how upsetting that is!

She's going there to witness and celebrate the union of marriage of her son and she'll be there with someone who disregards the vows that you'll be taking!

Unfortunately I don't think that there is much that you can do. It may be more of a stink asking her not to bring him. Unless your FH can do something....

FSIL thinks it's HORRIBLE but says that if we try to get her not to do it, it's going to cause more drama and anyway, her ex- husband, FFIL, is bringing a date, so she needs a date too... DON'T THESE PEOPLE KNOW IT'S NOT ABOUT THEM? I CAN'T DEAL WITH THIS. IT'S DISGUSTING.

he thinks it's disgusting and in the past asked her what was up with her and the married guy and she says "we're just friends" - but too bad she already admitted to FSIL that they are MORE than just friends. it makes me sick.... so she won't admit it straight out to FH b/c she knows he will be so against it. now FH wants to know what I think he should say. I DON"T KNOW???!@!!

well, I wouldn't say anything to her directly. but try to have FH talk to her and try to reason with her. it's is very inappropriate, and she need to know that.

Re: FMIL WANTS TO BRING A MARRIED MAN as a GUEST TO OUR WEDDING

My FMIL brought a married man to our wedding. They have been friends for quite a while and his wife is a-ok with it. They are just friends so I was totally cool with it, especially since my FFIL was there with his wife I didnt want her to be the only one without a date.

does the married man's wife know. maybe she should "find out" mysteriously.

it's really FH who has to deal with this, although i understand why you're so upset. it's embarrassing, but FH's family are the ones who will really be mortified. best of luck with whatever happens. i think your FH and his family should have some type of intervention with her.

Oh trust me, THIS IS DIFFERENT. this guy's wife would NOT be OK with it... IF SHE EVEN KNEW.

just like she wouldn't have been ok with my FMIL going away with him last month for a weekend. (i just heard this from fsil)

IT IS DISGUSTING.

Re: FMIL WANTS TO BRING A MARRIED MAN as a GUEST TO OUR WEDDING

Sorry, I just read the rest of your post. I would have FH talk to her and see whats really going on. She should tell him the truth.

If theyre not just friends I wouldnt feel comfortable with it either, a married man cheating on his wife with my FMIL at my wedding? Heck no.

I think this is honestly your FH's decision to make. How does he feel about it? He needs to talk to his mother about this, and if I were you, I'd just step back and let them hash it out.

Look I think what she is doing isn't nesscary right, BUT it really none of our businesses what she is doing with that married man. I hate to say it but its true. We also don't the cirumstances of his marriage. I've met older couples who remain married for religious reason, their children, money etc.. but they do each have private lovers respectfully not flanting it to the other. Granted this may not be something looked up upon, but it might be whats best for their family. Who are we all to judge. Talk to your FH and descide what you shoujld do. But I would leave it alone.

spoke to him again just now. he's disgusted but afraid to cause drama cuz she's going to go crazy if we tell her not to bring him...

ya know, she shouldn't put us in this position in the first place. i don't even want to look at her at my wedding if she brings him.

How about hiring her a hot escort???
Hmph... She is NOT going to go alone if FFIL is bringing a date. And she will totally resent being alone if FFIL's girlfriend is attractive... i feel like the divorce is fairly recent. You just can't say anything. I mean if FH and FSIL can't convince her that it is not right, you won't be able to. Also no matter how Peeved you are, don't tell your family... trust me, once your family starts looking down on his family... it is a really slippery slope and you just can't repair their impressions. You know? Why am i posting?? I am also not a FW

Does anyone else really know the man or his wife at the wedding? If he is just going to a wedding where she is the only one there that even knows hes married or that they are more than just friends.
