8/19 Wedding Review: Smithtown Landing

Wedding Day: A++
It was the best day of our lives, I’ve never been happier. I was very calm the whole day which was very unusual for me and I also did not end up crying at the ceremony which was a total shocker. I cannot believe how smoothly everything went. I expected at least 1 thing to go array but there was nothing. The only thing was that it rained a tiny bit and was very cloudy until after the ceremony. I didn’t care though because we got our “good luck rain”. I still cannot believe it is over-it totally felt like a dream.

Hair: April from Creative Hair Design A+
I was soooo happy with my hair! I did a trial but decided I wanted a different look and I still had no idea how I was going to wear it until the day of the wedding, it was such a pleasant surprise to see how it turned out. April made my hair look awesome and it looked perfect even at the end of the night. She is so sweet and great to work with, would def recommend her! She also did my mother’s hair and 1 BM’s hair and they both looked awesome!

Makeup: Denise from Angel Eyes A+
Denise did my makeup, my mothers and 1 BM’s makeup. She made me feel so beautiful. Everyone looked amazing esp. my mom she looked so young. She takes her time until you are perfect!

DJ: Music By Michael A+
I was nervous because at our e-party hardly anyone danced (we used a different DJ for our e-party). I could not believe how packed our dance floor was all night. Michael was so accommodating with us which was important to us since we live upstate. He was great at reading the crowd and picking out the perfect songs. I had so much fun and I really think it was due to his spectacular job.

Videographer: Wild Rose Video A+
Bill and Mike were our videographers. So nice to work with and really made me feel comfortable. We got our raw footage and it’s amazing, I can only imagine how nice our finished product is going to be. They are really great to work with and always have quickly replied to my questions and concerns.

Photographer: Silverfox Photographers: A+
Frank was our main photographer and Randy was the assistant. They were very polite and fun to work with, I felt at ease with them. They took 977 proofs, we opted to not have a 2nd photojournalistic photographer and I am glad we didn’t because we really didn’t need one. Our proofs are so amazing; I have no idea how we are going to be able to narrow it down. One thing I loved is that they did not pressure us into purchasing an album. We decided to not order albums at the time so that we could save money but now we are going to order them.

Gown: Paradise Bridal (Pronovias): A+
I loved my dress and my bustle! The seamstress (Rosalie I think) did a wonderful job with my alterations. Donna helped me to choose my gown; this is the only place I looked for gowns. I tried on a ton of different styles until after going back and forth between 3 gowns I decided on the one.

BM dresses-Netbride: A+
We saved money and the dresses were perfect. They came in earlier than expected maybe took 3 months to receive them after I placed the order. After hearing so many horror stories about bridal shops screwing up BM gowns I’m so happy we used Netbride.

Sir Oliver Limo: A
Driver was on time for picking up the guys but since it was a Friday and they dropped the guys off before getting the girls they were late for the BMs. We probably should have booked the limos for a half hour more but hey it saved us money so it worked out. It wasn’t really a big deal though nor was it their fault. The Rolls Royce was early to come and get me and I arrived at the church in the Rolls Royce before the girls which was a little weird but it was fine. Our drivers were very nice, polite and helpful. Limo and Rolls Royce were clean. I would recommend and def use them again.

M&F Florist: A+
Maggie the owner is such a sweet lady who really has a passion for what she does. She spent a lot of time with me making sure that I had chosen the perfect flowers. I loved my bouquet and also how the BMs flowers contrasted perfectly with their gowns. We also used them for our centerpieces because it was included with our hall and I was very happy with them as well.

Smithtown Landing Country Club: A+++
Once DH and I went to see Smithtown we knew it was exactly what we were looking for. Because only 1 event goes on at a time I felt that it was very intimate. Everything was perfect and all of our requests were listened to. When I saw the room set up it really took my breath away it was so much more beautiful than I had ever expected. The food was great and I could barely eat my dinner I was so stuffed from cocktail, all of our guests seemed happy and well taken care of. We opted to add an extra half hour to the cocktail and an extra half hour to the reception which I would highly recommend. We also added the chocolate fountain which was a big hit, and I was even able to try it without getting chocolate on my gown.

Invitations-Party City: A
We saved a lot of money by going through Party City. We had some envelopes that got squished but they replaced them within 2 days so it was no big deal. I loved how they came out and I would use them again for other occasions.

Honeymoon-Secrets Capri Riviera Maya: A+++++++++++++
We were originally supposed to go to Aventura Spa Palace but because of hurricane Emily the resort was severely damaged and we had to change our plans a few weeks before the wedding, after having this trip booked since December. We really had a tough time deciding where to go afterwards because we were so scared of another hurricane hitting the same spot, and weren’t really sure if the area would be recovered in time. But after going back and forth we decided that we really wanted to go to the same area so we booked Secrets-which is normally more money than Aventura but we didn’t have to pay anything extra for it. We stayed for 10 nights but we could have stayed there forever. The food and service was amazing! The atmosphere was very intimate. We had so much fun, it was my first time leaving the US and flying in an airplane. I would love to go back there someday or try out another Secrets resort. Please FM for more details. Our weather was perfect, it was extremely hot but it was sunny everyday we were there. We spent a lot of time relaxing on the beach and in the pool but also did a couple of excursions that were a lot of fun.

Travel Agent-Susie from Liberty Travel in Flushing: A+
Susie was recommended to us by my sister-in-law. We live upstate but were able to do everything over the internet which was awesome! I would highly recommend our agent she was awesome and was truly concerned and upset for us when she learned that we could not go to Aventura.

this wedding was SOOOOOOO MUCH fun and I was so honored to be apart of it. I LOVE LOVE LOVED my hair- she did an amazing job and Denise of course, never fails to make everyone look beautiful. Jess looked so amazing she almost drove me to tears all morning! Truly a spectacular day!
