My Reception Site Short List!! Opinions?

Okay, thanks to you lovely ladies and a lot of phone work, I've narrowed down my list of possible reception sites to the follow:

Giorgio's
Beach Club Estate
Crest Hollow CC
West Sayville CC
Smithtown Landing CC
Milleridge Carriage House
Jericho Terrace
Venetian Yacht Club
Watermill
Majestic Gardens
Venetian Yacht Club

Okay...maybe it's still a long list! Anyway, I've seen Giorgio's and Majestic. Between tonight and next Wednesday, I'll be visiting the rest on the list. ANY insight that you can give me on the rest of the places would be great (prices, experiences, service, etc). We're looking at March, May and November 2006 as possibilities; Sunday wedding; 75 minimum.

Thanks in advance!!!!

Theresa

Re: My Reception Site Short List!! Opinions?

Watermill was beautiful. More than one wedding at a time. Beautiful grounds outside

Jericho Terrace was beautiful. Very Italian Glam I like to call it. The amount of food you can choose was amazing. No outdoors and on the side of Jericho Turnpike.

Majestic Gardens was beautiful. My cousin just got married there in April and the service was the best I have ever experienced. Beautiful outdoors.

have no experience with the others. HTH

Thanks for the input. Did you find Jericho Terrace noisy at all? Are there places for pics? That was the one thing about Majestic that I wasn't crazy about, especially if we did End of March or early May wedding...the noise from the highway!

Hi! First off, you made a BEAUTIFUL bride!!! I read your review and it was very helpful. If you don't mind my asking, how many people did you have? Do you think if we decided on an early November wedding, we'd be okay?

Thanks!!

Re: My Reception Site Short List!! Opinions?

I personally loved everything about Jericho Terrace. It was honestly on of my top choices!! We went there to look at it twice but FH caved the second time. Fh did not like the fact that it was right on jericho turnpike. Valet Parking would have been difficult. the inside is just , well...Grand!! Love the columns and marble floor and fire place and fish ponds! I could go on and on. The menu was outrageous!! Amazing picture opportunity everywhere inside. There is very little picture opportunities outside!!! Somethingblu just had her wedding there! I would FM her. Outside was noisy, but I could here nothing form the inside.

Smithtown Landing is small, I had a hard time finding it, and there were a bunch of family's in their bathing suits wandering around from the pool/beach or whatever. That wouldnt be a prob in March or Nov though.

Re: My Reception Site Short List!! Opinions?

I have been to 2 weddings at Crest Hollow. The only reason the other places you mentioned seem better to me is because at Crest Hollow there are multiple weddings going on at the same time. At one of the weddings I went to there, the cocktail hour was by the pool and there was another cocktail hour on the other side of the pool at the exact same time. Just figured that was a good fyi.

Re: My Reception Site Short List!! Opinions?

We're having about 75 people. What bothers me about Carriage House is that it's one room, not a separate room for CH and reception. Any other places you can suggest would be appreciated!

Hmmm...good point! I'm probably going to check them out just to see if I like them at all. With a smaller wedding, I can't really afford to be too picky. Well...I CAN but I'm trying to be reasonable.
Thanks for the tip!

Milleridge Carriage House

I worked at Watermill years ago along with going to my cousin's wedding there. It is a wonderful place! The food is terrific! The service i do say so myself was wonderful! The kitchen is so clean! (and that is NOT true of other places I have worked) and it is improtant to me, so I always asked to see the kitchen and they always let me !

went to a wedding this past july at venetian yacht club- THE MOST FUN WEDDING I WENT TO, the waiter was a little rude, but we thought he was funny, if he were with a different kind of table he may not have been so so funny...ya know what i mean. Food was good- it has an amazing view!

Went to look at majestic gardens...friendly salesperson/owner, heard the food is fabulous, didnt love the main road it is on and the fact that it is so close to the road, didnt like the entrance, loved the secret garden, didnt love the area on the patio-

Went to see giorgios- my mom is distant friends with george SR. food is good, place is beautiful

worked for windows on the lake which owns Beach Club Estate and had my sweet 16 at windows years ago...

Re: My Reception Site Short List!! Opinions?

Absolutely loved everything about Jericho Terrace. And we had booked 2 places before...thank God we cancelled! In addition to being extremely helpful and accomodating,
this was the only hall that let us have a small guarantee...we had 100 guests and they treated us like it was a huge event. Really loved them. Review and pictures posted here...

Thanks so much for the insight! I went to a wedding at Watermill ages ago and all I remember of it was it being so DARK inside so originally, I wasn't even going to consider it. But a lot of people have told me it went through major renovations and I should definitely look at it. I know EXACTLY what you mean re: the waiter! I think it's great when people can turn what could be a rude-waiter situation into something funny and memorable (sort of like what my group of friends do!)

I fell in love with Giorgio's right away so it is the place that all others are being compared to. I know my FH wants to have a choice of places but ultimately, we'll end up where I want (boys are so fun when they realize they can't win on some points...like our wedding!!!)

My sister had her wedding at CHCC and it was awesome. No complaints here. The food was great, the viennese hour presentation was to die for. Awesome bridal attendant. loved it, and the grounds are so pretty. The only reason we didn't look there was b/c I didn't want the same place as my sister and b/c we wanted 1 wedding at a time

I went to a wedding at Giorgio's and Majestic Gardens - Loved it! Huge CH great food in general and the service was super.

Went to one at Smithtown Landing - It was really nice. The food was delicious and service great. The AC went and it was a july wedding so needless to say it was HOT!!!

We had our e-party at the West Sayvill CC it was beautiful. The food was delicious and the service was top notch, plus no one couldn't beat the price.

We booked the Watermill for our wedding. Just before we booked, my parents had been to a wedding there (in the downstairs) and said it was phenominal! When we went to look at the place I just fell in love with it.

I've heard great things about...
Jericho Terrace

Re: My Reception Site Short List!! Opinions?

i just had my wedding about a month ago at chcc and i can just tell you things from my perspective...

i was in the upstairs room, and had cocktail hour in one the rooms upstairs as well.

the food was great, the cake delicious and many of my guests said there was too much food at the cocktail hour that they were stuffed by the time dinner rolled around (i'll take that complaint ).

we had three rolling bars for 200 people which was plenty---

what really made the party was our band and the company.

if you don't mind more than 1 event going on (i think we had a bat mitzvah and something else going on) at the same time, chcc would be a great choice. prices are reasonable,
the grounds are lovely for pictures.

fm if you need anything

My sister got married at CHCC three years ago, and I'm getting married there in November. I do know there is another wedding going on during mine, but we have the entire upstairs portion of the Crest Hollow so I don't think it will be a problem.

Craigshunny--we had it in the Astor room (upstairs room) and had 164 people. We didn't look at many other places...but have been to so many weddings on LI! We fell in love with how charming it is, and even though there is another wedding going on they never make you feel like it is.

I had 90 guests - invited 130 or so. I needed to guarantee 90 and I *barely* just made it :D
