ATTN: Past brides who used votive placecards
I would love to have votive placecards, but my only concern is that our guests will have a hard time finding their names. Is it difficult to read the names on the votives?
TIA!

My guests didn't seem to have a hard time.
Anyway, we had to submit a seating list in alphabetical order by last name to our hall. They had an attendant assisting them in finding their seats if they had trouble so it was no big deal.

I was afraid of that, too, until one of the brides on here said to use tealights to avoid that. Also, if they are being lit right before cocktail hour ends, it should be fine.

If you use tea lights, they do not get hot.

Actually, in my experience the tea lights made them get hotter. Because the tea lights are shorter the flame is exposed to more of the glass and heats it up.
I used the votive candles and since they are taller, as long as the candle hadn't melted down to the bottom, the unmelted portion always stays cool to the touch.
