UPDATED Surprise bridal shower and party (sad vent - LONG)
Well, I'll start out with the good. The bachelorette party at Lucky Cheng's was really fun.
Ok now the bad. I said that I didn't want a shower, although I waffled on that for a while. I don't really like attention, and I didn't like the idea of opening up underwear in front of my future MIL. Anyway, my FH, who is the sweetest man around, decided that he didn't want me to miss out on anything, so he called my MOH (not telling me any of this) and requested that they give me a shower after all. He passed along my bachelorette party list, which included my future SIL (close to my age). My MOH and bridesmaid in turn apparently called my mom and organized this party. At the time my FH called MOH, his mom was planning on making us a small party, so he said that to the MOH.
So, basically what ended up happening was that my FSIL was at the shower, and FMIL was not, and FSIL mentioned the shower to FMIL, and the fact that she met my mom, etc. So now (understandably) FMIL is really hurt that she was not invited, when FSIL and my mom were.
As if that wasn't enough, my mom called to tell me how awkward she felt as the only older person at this shower, and how she could not wait to get out of there, and would have felt much more comfortably if FMIL was there! (they met last weekend and got along)
FH is going to talk to his mom today and explain that FSIL was inadvertently left on the list, b/c she was on the bachelorette list, and it was supposed to be just my side...
sorry for the long vent. It's sad b/c there aws so much good intentions, but right now I just want to cry...
ETA: Update, he talked to her and its a little better now. On the plus side, we got our marriage license! (Only at a city agency would we wait on one line to get an applicaition, sit and fill it out, wait on another line to have someone type it in, then wait on the first line again to pay, only to find out that the typer put in "NM" instead of "NY", so we had to get it corrected!)
