NWR....a personal question
This year has been a big one for me....and a lot has changed obviously. I know I've been under some stress and lost sleep with the planning of the wedding. But this is driving me nuts.
Aunt Flo has been a pretty regular visitor to me all my life give or take 1-2 days. But for some reason, ever since January, it's been completely out of whack. I've been to the GYN and everything is fine, other than one YI. But I figured, that couldn't throw it off, could it?
For example: February I was 10 days late April I had it twice in 1 month. (Although this I contributed to starting BC and getting right off it because I got violently sick from it) June I was 2 weeks late July I was 1 week late August was about 5 days early
and now I am 3 weeks late!!!
Now I know I'm not pregnant. My co-worker said your body changes every 7 years, and maybe this is just my year. I can't take any form of BC to regulate it because of a health problem that it aggravates (which I think caused the problem in the first place!!)
Anyone ever gone through this before? I want to go to the Dr the second I get insurance again because this is frustrating the crap outta me!!

Re: NWR....a personal question
Stress definitely plays a big part of being regular! If you have added stress it can make your cycle wacky. I don't know if your weight is relativley stable, but I tend to fluxuate and whenever I gain weight, it makes me really irregular. Your hormones may also be going through a change, like you've said. You should go to your gyno, but he/she will probably say you're fine and ask if you want to go on birth control pills to keep you regular. The best thing, IMO, is to make sure you're drinking a lot of water and eating a really balanced diet...and exercise never hurts either. HTH

Re: NWR....a personal question
I know I have a cyst that they told me not to worry about, but lately in the past month or so I've had pain in my pelvic area on the right side. So I don't know. Funny thing is, last time I was this late, I went to the GYN and she said give it another week, and the next day it showed up.
If it doesn't make an appearance by tomorrow, I'll just go to the dr and pay out of pocket.
Oh yeah, and birth control is out of the question. My GYN told me to STAY AWAY from any form of birth control. The only one I can take would be an IUD, and I'm not crazy about that option.

I know it's not ideal, but can't you go to planned parenthood or a free clinic???

Re: NWR....a personal question
Come to think of it, I did gain weight after I moved in with FH last year, although this year I've been able to maintain it, (even though I have to lose about 30 lbs).
Maybe the exercise will help.

Re: NWR....a personal question
When I was in college I didn't get it for 3 months because I changed my exercise routine. Weight-loss, stress, and even changing your daily routine can really mess you up.

Re: NWR....a personal question
I can't offer much help since w/o the pill I am so irregular it makes my head spin. (2x a month is very common w/o it).
What about the patch? It's new, it's different, and it might help.
As for lack of health insurance, Planned Parenthood has sliding scale fee.

Re: NWR....a personal question
The patch is what made me violently ill in April!!
I can't take anything with hormones because I have gallstones and birth control (including the patch) aggravates the condition and gives me attacks that I would not wish upon my worst enemy. I have to wait until my gallbladder is removed before going back on birth control.
(That and my doctor thinks that since I was on the patch for a long time a few years back, that it might have actually caused the gallstones!!)

Re: NWR....a personal question
My cycle was all screwed up also at one point and it turned out I had a very bad kidney infection, and Dysfunctional Uterine bleeding. Sorry also if TMI. I would rule out any other health problems . I think there is something they can give you to bring on AF.

Re: NWR....a personal question
I was always like clockwork until January - my period came three weeks late! Needless to say, I was freaking out. I just wrote it off as the big changes in my life just throwing off my cycle, since FH had recently proposed. Then, it happened again in July, after having a very stressful month. So I went to the gyno in August and she said it is perfectly normal to have irregular cycle once in a while. I asked her whether I should go on the pill to try to regulate my cycle and she said no, just wait and see how it goes. That made me feel better. I almost don't expect it to be completely regular this coming year just because of the wedding coming up and all the activity that will be going on. I just hope I don't have Aunt FLo on the big day!

Re: NWR....a personal question
I have been on the pill for a long time (different pills over the years) but my periods did in fact change in degree of heaviness. I would imagine that it makes sense that if hormone levels change with a pill, that they also do without. Best bet is to talk to your doctor!

Re: NWR....a personal question
I have the same exact thing happening I was irregular for years then lost weight and it was regular every month exactly 28 days. This past year though I gained weight and changed jobs and had a few health issues and now my period hasn't been regular at all, its always late or comes twice a month like you.
My gyno has done an internal sonogram which shows I've had hormonal cysts have you had an internal sonogram done?
also has your weight flucuated i know you've been going to the gym from your other posts.
but stress can definitely be a major factor in the irregularity
