Spinoff from Janies post: Unbelieveable things our mothers and FMILS have said or thought out loud

OK so last night I was talking about my FG's to my mom and she comes up with this PEARL "I think the little girls should wear bloomers under their dresses. " She isnt referring to the tights with ruffles on the butt, she is actually referring to all out covering BLOOMERS like this:


I told her under NO circumstances will their mothers allow it. So one of the mothers(also a BM) says that she wouldnt allow her daughter to wear bloomers, but SHE will wear them!

My Mom just said this to me yesterday...

"your legs are so cute they look like mine when they are swollen"

My mom says things w/o thinking .

I have two from FFIL (some what related):

My FFIL told me I have no butt. (um eww - don't look at my butt!)

and he told me I need to gain some weight, that I am too skinny

Oh I LOVE this thread.

My FMIL is 50 going on 21.

She goes clubbing every weekend.
She tells my FH's friends that she wants to go to female strip clubs with them.

I must quote this one....


My friend met a guy in Cancun. (Both are from NY) She happened to be in a horrible job at the time, so being that he was a manager in a finance company, he asked for her resume and eventually hired her when they got back to NY. To make a long story short.. they ended up hooking up and now they are engaged. When my friend told my FMIL the story of how they met my FMIL had the nerve to say....

"Oh I see how it works these days.. You meet on the beach, you screw and then he hires you"

oh my god these are so horrible!

my FMIL wont talk about the wedding, anytime i try to "involve" her she "disappears" and wont call or IM or anything for days/almost weeks, and anytime wedding is brought up all she says is she wants to see all the contracts( like its any of her business) and how much are we spending, meanwhile she isnt giving any money towards wedding, she will pay for rehearsal b/c was told she had to by son but now she wants the RH upstate NY 2 hours away, i live in staten island! ughhhh..Oh and she always says he should have never bought me my engagement ring...the list goes on, shes a NUT and now i try to ignore her, i have a feeling im going to blow soon tho...

I'm pretty lucky my FMIL is great, however my own mother is another story....
She lives far from here, so when i got my dress i emailed her a picture of it. She wrote back...."boy you better get to the gym to look good in that" (not to metion, i'm a size 8!)

My FMIL has repeatedly told me (in a baby voice nonetheless) that she will look gorgeous on my wedding day and all eyes will be on her. I burst out laughing and so did FH

My FMIL insults her beautiful daughter! She tells my FSIL that shes fat! the girl is HS and 15 yr old and a stick figure and she calls her fat to everyone in front of her!

I have a bunch, here are the highlights:

1) "Don't wear your hair too close to your head, you know how your forehead is." (MOB)

2) Don't get married in pennsylvania, no one will come. (also.... We think this is a big mistake (pennsylvania, not the wedding)) (MOB and FOB)

3) "Don't get a strapless dress, you don't want to swim in it." (MOB)

4) Me: "Hey mom, why don't you call my FMIL and ask about the rehersal dinner and her plans"
MOB: "No, I don't want her to ask me to pay for it"

5) "Maybe we can get OUR wedding picture and display it too" (MOB)

6) "I never expected my parents to take out a loan and pay for our wedding." (FOB)

oh jeeze where should I start..

FMIL..

Said my parents are only giving me a small wedding cause they are embarrassed I am fat??? W T F?? took me awhile to forget that comment..

Said that I shouldn't wear a white wedding dress since we all know she's not a virgin

Called my parents cheap, because they didn't want to spend $150 per person at a hall too freaking far away anyways.. like the $8500 they are spending at the Swan Club is nothing?? umm hello???

but the best one of all, the one that will NEVER EVER BE truely forgiven..

after my weight loss surgery, she told her son, oh once she loses weight she will leave you?? umm lady how can you say that to your son?? it's the one and only time I've ever wanted to b!tch slap this woman rugh!!

There are more pearls of wisdom, but it's just more of the same..

My God I can't believe all of these!!! My mother has been known to say some funny sh!t, but nothing along the lines of this!!!

My mother has been more critical of other family member's weddings than mine, although I'm sure she will have bones to pick when mine is said and done!!!

My best ones come from the rest of the family:

My grandmother after seeing me for the first time in about 7 years: "Wow you got fat!" Gee, thanks grandma, I missed you too!!

My aunt last week at my SIL's baby shower: "You were so skinny, what happened"
Gee, thanks for reminding me, as if the wedding isn't enough of a reminder!!

Same aunt telling my FH he gained weight, that I must be feeding him rice and beans. (Actually, he HATES rice and beans, but thanks for noticing and pointing it out!)

Augh!!!!
