another bm story....
I am strarting to HATE my bm's. i call one of my bm's up and tell her when she has to go fitting. She gives me this whole big story on how she wont deal with the salespeople if she has to spend another 100 on alterations, i was like what, and than she said, "i will not be able to be in your wedding then" i almost fell over, I have been freind with her for over 20 years and she says this. She is on wieght watchers and things if she loses 30-40 pounds from now until the wedding the alrerations will be alot. I believe they cap the alterations. I am so upset as I has my fsil drop out a few weeks ago. Should i call this bm back or just let everything cool down and call her during the week??

Re: another bm story....
i'm sure wherever you are going has a cap on alterations - they don't keep charging if they have to take in or let out more. call her back and explain that.
and sorry, that sux

ask her to call the bridal shop and have them explain their policy. not that she doesn't believe you, but if she hears it from the horses mouth she'll understand it

Re: another bm story....
She has to go for her dress fitting for the actual dress now, or just be measured for size to order the dress? If she plans on losing weight, I'd have to agree it's silly for her alterations to be done now when she has 10 months.
If she's getting measured for size to order, maybe she's just down on her weight right now and would be upset to have to order a large size. How long does your place take to get the dresses? On avg., I was told 12-15 weeks, so maybe you can give her another couple of months.

Is there information in writing about the price cap? That way she can read it and hopefully understand it at her own pace

Re: another bm story....
thats what i was gonna ask.. is that an actual fitting, or just to get measured to see what size to order? if its a ftting, its defnitely too early to do that.... and i think you also have a little bit of time to order the dresses, too... for my friends wedding, we ordered 6 months ahead and it was fine... bm dresses don't take as long as wedding gowns.... i would maybe try to compromise and give her a coupl extra months, maybe she'll feel better about it then....

Yeah, there's nothing worse than hoping and praying to lose weight but having to order a size you're not happy with. Plus maybe it'll show her you have confidence in her weight loss if you tell her she can have a little more time.

You still have a long way until your wedding. Can't she hold off on the alterations until a couple of months before? You can't blame her for wanting to lose weight and not go for several alteration visits

Re: another bm story....
My wedding is in 3 months and I haven't even gone for my fitting yet. She doesn't need to go now for a fitting you have plenty of time. However, she shouldn't have gotten so nasty with you. Now that you have the dresses, put them aside until it gets closer to the wedding. Good luck.

Re: another bm story....
The dresses can be ordered and she doesn't need to go for fittings until May. I lost 25 lbs between measurements and fittings for my BM dress for a wedding last year and paid $50 for alterations. They also took 6" off the hem, and I'm not a short person.
If you end up ordering a strapless gown it could actually be funny for her. My friend's dress was strapless and when it finally came in I tried it on and it slipped right off of me and to the floor because of the weight I lost. My FI said 'perfect'.

Re: another bm story....
I do not have the dresses all I need to do is order them so they do not get discontinued.... I cannot believe she is upset about a dress cost.... i know there is a cap and they can only charge you up till that amt. I have always told her how happy and proud I am of her losing the wieght, and I always told her that I love her for who she is. Anyway, time will heal, and I will call her later in the week...
She has a long time for dress alterations, and this should not be a time to be upset, this is a happy time for me and i want her to share it with me.'
Thanks for your imputs.
