SWR: have a question re: the honeymoon and flying
I hope you ladies can help. Whenever I get on a plane I have a terrible experience. The pressure affects my ears so badly that I feel like my head is going to explode. The one and only time my FH and I went away I scared the hell out of him because I was in so much pain! Before that trip I had gone to an ear doctor and he told me take an antihistamine about an hour before take off and landing. It helped a little bit. But i heard that there is some sort of nose spray you can take that helps faster than taking a pill. Does anyone know anything about this? or know anything that will help me? Any suggestions? I'm freaking out because the honeymoon is coming up!
Thanks

Re: SWR: have a question re: the honeymoon and flying
I have horrible shooting pains from my ears all the way down to my neck during the descent of every flight. I can tell when we've started the landing process before the announcement is made for everyone to get back to their seats. One thing I've found that helps is earplanes. You "screw" them into your ear in order to reduce the pressure. I'm still in pain, but it's more tolerable with this and chewing gum. I'm pretty sure they're available in any drug store.

Be very careful with nasal sprays - make sure your doctor tells you exaclty what he wants you to take. I have a situation with my eye now that believe it or not was caused by Afrin!!! FM me if you want further info.

I swear by earplanes. They are great. I also use Afrin if necessary - if I am at all congested I use it before the flight. I use it after if my ears are sucked in (but this doesn't happen often since I started using the earplanes). You can get the earplanes at the drugstore and also usually at the airport. I use them for take-off and landing because my ears are really sensitive. Sometimes, I just leave them in the whole flight because they help drown out screaming kids :)
