Brides who got married in a chuch I have a question
FH & I are trying to decide what to get our priest as a thank you for doing our mass. We have to make a $300 donation to the church but we thought we would get the priest something--did anyone else do this & if so what did you give the priest.

Wow thats all you have to give? $300? I have to donate 1500, plus pay the minister $500 and plus all the other extras...

We have to give the church a $700 donation but we are going to give the priest and deacon a gift. The priest is an avid fisherman and so we are going to give him a really nice fishing pole and we will probably donate extra money in the deacon's name to the church.

Wow! That seems HIGH.
I know our priest likes to read and has also mentioned going to see movies at a nearby theater so I am planning on getting him gift cards to that theater and a book store.

I'm not getting him a gift. Our "donation" is so high its a real turn off and disgrace that they would make people pay this amount to get married.

and we will get our priest who is also a family friend something i dont know what yet...maybe a Gift cert. to a rest. he likes to eat out

I believe our donationis $450. I wasn't planning on doing anything extra for the priest b/c I never heard of it. Do alot of people do this??

Our donation was $350 and that included Pre Cana and music. I can't believe how high some of you are.
We did not get anything for the priest.
FYI - You can use the church amount (and if you do donations to charity for favors) as a tax write off too. Saves you some money in what is a very expensive year.

Our donation was $500 but we sent our priest a gourmet basket of cookies, crackers, etc. after the wedding.
