i think its so ladies in heeels/uncomfortable shoes after a couple of hours your feet hurt so this way they can switch to those little chinese slippers

yup  its just a nice thing you can do for your guests ( especially the women who are probably wearing uncomfortable heels). you buy some slippers so they can take a pair, take off their heels, and keep dancing all night
