Re: wedding gifts
I first heard about that on this site..I cant even imagine!!!!!!!!!!!
Never has anyone in my family ever said that someone came to an afffair giftless..especially a wedding.
I would be mortified for that person!

Re: wedding gifts
I have heard some people say "Oh, I forgot my gift at home, I'll send it this week", and then never send anything.
I think my sister even had quite a few people not give anything, nor mentioned anything, as well.

i read it on here in a post below, i can't believe someone would do that. i'd never attend a wedding without giving a gift or money in a card.

Re: wedding gifts
Lets see... we had a BM not bring a gift and then recently make jokes about it to DH
Some other relatives and not distant ones I might add didn't bring a gift either. What burns me the most about it is there was no card - no gift I can get over. At least you could bring a card... what does that cost you, nothing but it at least shows us that you did think of us.

Re: wedding gifts
we had 4 young adults add their names to their parent's card.
2 were 21 years old
1 was 25 years old
the other was 31 YEARS OLD
oh yeah, and one more guy was in his 50's and wasn't actually invited, but his mom asked if he could come so that he could drive 2 of the older couples to the wedding and back home.
His mom added his name to her card.

oh yes, all of the parents gave gifts.
But, only 2 out of that group gave a gift that would have normally come from a "family" of people.
The others gave what a couple would normally give, but just added the other's person name to the card.

Re: wedding gifts
Oh yes, it happens. At my wedding, a bridesmaid didn't give me a gift, and my own brother has yet to give us a gift, though he keeps promising (I'm not holding my breath!). Another good friend of mine has a policy that he NEVER gives a gift if he pays expenses for hotel or travel, so of course, no gift from him either. And then a couple of my parent's friends didn't give a gift, though one couple just sent us a $500 savings bond. 10 months late, but better than never!

Re: wedding gifts
I think this happens to everyone.
Sometimes it is understandable -- people are too young or too poor.
At my bridesmaids wedding reception later year she had several non-gifters. including her husband's best friend -- who also left after 10 mins. Because his girlfriend felt under dressed! (Who wears jeans to a reception in New York? I don't care how small it is, you at least wear nice pants.)
