My review of the wedding I went to at the Crest Hollow last night

NOTE: THIS IS JUST MY HONEST AND PERSONAL OPINION

Showed up at the wedding late b/c there was a ridiculous amount of traffic on the way, but we arrived when they started announcing the wedding party- 16 people in the
party, and their parents- so we were standing there for 15 minutes. The BM or Maitre'D kept screeching at us to move out of the way b/c we were watching and were in some type of way of "NOTHING." So that wasn't too exciting to be around him.

Get to our seats - there was techno playing (don't know the name of the DJ and MC team, but they were seriously terrible.) Video screens showing photos of of the bride and groom - nice touch that I would have never thought of. Cute, will definitely look into it for our wedding. Disco ball set up on a stage - wasn't a fan, serously it looked like saturday night fever.

Dinner came- it was okay. The presentation was pretty bad, and the waiters looked like they didnt know what they were doing- and they cleared everything right away, even before I finished!

After dinner was when they started playing jay, biggie, sean paul, amerie, j.lo- which was awesome (just b/c that's my flavor.)

Floral arrangements were simple pink
and white mixed flowers on tall pedastals with ivy and candles lasted the whole night, very pretty, and I recm'd the florist.

Umm, what else- oh!!! Bride goes to throw the bouquet - she ends up throwing it
straight up and breaking the chandelier. Glass eveywhere - again, waiters and BM didn't have a clue what to do.

Final Note: I hate mc's..they just make the whole thing corny and forced people to get on the dancefloor while they clearly didn't.

I took some photos with a disposable I bought - i must develop them immediately and will post.

Re: My review of the wedding I went to at the Crest Hollow last night

I went to a wedding at Crest Hollow on Friday night. I might as well tag my review onto yours.
Let me start by saying that this was the wedding of my FH's sister. She looked gorgeous! All of the flowers were beautiful (white and pink roses with green hydrangea). I would def. Recommend their florist too.

Crest Hollow:
The ceremony was nice, but they put rather large bushes down the aisle which blocked most people's view of what was going. I must admit though, they looked great in pictures. After the ceremony we went to the cocktail hour outside by the pool. Another cocktail hour was set up on the opposite side, and you saw the bride and her party (I know that annoys some people). The food was pretty good, but they set it up in a large circle so you had to just cut in where ever you could to grab food. Although they were suppose to have a list of passed hordorves, I only saw one tray the entire night (and I was looking) with fried shrimp. Many of the things the bride picked were not there.
The reception started with a pineapple boat filled with fruit (which turned out to be a half of melon with some sliced fruit in it). It was very good. For dinner I had steak (everyone said that the steak was cooked differently then how they asked) it was good and came with carrots, potatoes, and broccoli. After dinner they gave us the BEST ice cream dessert I ever had. It was vanilla swirl icecream rolled in nuts with whipped cream and choc. sauce. Everyone commented on how good it was. The cake looked beautiful, but tasted okay. I agree that table service was little to nil.
One very odd thing was the bars. They only had two tiny bars that they rolled around the room. One bartender was good, but the other kept leaving and his bar stayed on the dance floor the entire night. Most people ended up pouring their own drinks. They also told my FSIL that they would have frozen drinks and they lied. There was no blender for a rolling cart, and they didn't make any in the back. Also, they didn't use top shelf liquor (which they said they used).
Besides the few quirks, everyone had a great time!!! I'll post picks soon too.

My mother went to a wedding at CH on Saturday night, and the first thing she said when I asked her how it was was "they had the best ice cream desert ever!!"

Re: My review of the wedding I went to at the Crest Hollow last night

We just went there a few weeks ago and there were 4 weddings going on at once, so it was very difficult to get our car at the end of the night. also, during the cocktail hour, it was so hot...and there no admittance inside at all. Also, other bride's wedding parties were running through the cocktail hour. During the cocktail hour...we could actually see the other brides and their families (some were also taking pictures) I'm not a fan of seeing others if it was my wedding day.

The cocktail hour food was good...the only thing was there was no tent above the food and only the hot sun. so, some of the coldcuts were a little funny looking (I think they went bad). Another recommendation about the CH is the servers didn't even explain what they were bringing around. I only saw 3 different hors d'oerves. (not sure of spelling).

Dinner was good! Too much food and some of the servers didn't speak english that well. I liked what I had (prime rib), but another guest who had chicken didn't care for it.

After one wedding got let out, other bridal parties came walking in...wedding crashers!

Overall, they did a nice presentation! The room was setup nicely, very dramatic looking!

Re: My review of the wedding I went to at the Crest Hollow last night

OMG! I went to a wedding at the Crest Hollow last night too! I felt the same exact way (that none of the waiters or anyone who worked there knew what the heck was going on) At one point the were passing out food at the cocktail hour and half of them couldn't even tell you what they were passing out!! Not to mention that the cocktail hour was outside by the pool and they had the huge fountain spraying water (very pretty and refreshing to look at) BUT if you sat at any of the tables surrounding the pool you would have gotten wet!!

I can't really comment on the food that much because they had food brought in from an outside caterer (cultural thing), but we did have the Viennese hour and it was really good (maybe because that was the only American food we ate all night and we were famished)

Don't let it get to you..your wedding will be perfect! It's good to know so you can tell your banquet manager.

Re: My review of the wedding I went to at the Crest Hollow last night

It mustve been an off weekend for CH . I went to a wedding on friday night. FH and I LOVED CH and almost booked there until we looked at and fell in love w/ jericho terrace, so we were totally looking forward to this wedding!

the CH started at 8, we all had to stand waiting in the lobby w/ other weddings (not sure how many but there were a ton of people and not many seats) then we were told to go out to the cocktail hr to a certain side of the pool. while the weather was perfect, and the grounds were beautiful, i thought it was so strange that a pool was seperating 2 different weddings. there was one round table w/ food about 10 ft long, I thought the selection and food was great (but i have been dieting for a while now) while FH and a few others thought the selection was somewhat blah. we both thought the food itself was good, there just wasnt much variety.

there were 2 rolling bars out there, the drinks were in those teeny tiny plastic cups, no bottle beer at all (during the reception either), we had to keep getting up for drinks. the staff was very attentive during the CH, clearing our plates as soon as we were done, and removing our drinks.

we then went upstairs to the room for the reception. the room was beautiful, it had a balcony that was great for the guests who smoked, it also got a ***** chilly inside so it was nice to run out there to warm up for a bit or to get away from the LOUD music.

I second that there were 2 very small rolling cart bars. the guy was always at the one on our side, not sure about the other. again the drinks were in very small glasses, and didnt taste so great. to start was the fruit cup that was in a cutout pineapple (very pretty and yummy). the bread was hard as a rock and no one at my table touched it. then the waitress came around and offered our dinner choices.... she literally said "do you want the steak, chicken or salmon." So i asked again what the choices were because i thought for sure i heard her wrong and she said yet again "steak chicken or salmon" so i ordered the chicken, i figured you cant go wrong w/ that. i probably never wouldve even noticed how strange it was that she didnt say the type it was, but when you are planning a wedding you tend to pay attention to EVERYTHING.

FH got the steak and said it was very good, as did another couple at the table. friends of ours got the salmon and both said it was very chewy. i got the chicken and thought it was good. the side was potatoes, a few broccoli spears (yummy), and a HUGE pile of shredded carrots, which i thought was an odd side but that is probably because i dont like cooked carrots. we saw our waitress 2 times, once to take the order, and once to leave the food. no one EVER came over and offered drinks or to see how everything was. I didnt notice if she was taking care of other tables as well, but it was a medium size wedding and there seemed to be a nice amount of servers.

I am not sure if this is true or not, but a few people at the table said there was no bathroom upstairs??????? they had to go downstairs everytime they had to go....and complained each time lol, they got lost the first time and walked into someone else's wedding lol.

there was also a viennese hr, fh had the ice cream and said it was amazing. cant comment on anything other than that, we were too full lol.

overall i really must say that we had a great time. the room was stunning, the balcony area was great, most of the food was good, and the cocktail hr was so pretty. I would definitely have menu's on the table, to avoid the server issue, and make sure you are getting top shelf liquor. if anyone had any questions, dont hesitate to ask!

Re: My review of the wedding I went to at the Crest Hollow last night

I went to a wedding at the CH in July, and sounds like I had a lot of the same experiences. When we first got there, we had to wait in the lobby which had about 250 people there, and only about 15 seats. The cocktail hour was in a room upstairs that was sooo dark, you couldnt see anything. The food was set up in a circle in the middle of the room and noboby knew where to jump in. Everybody was cutting in line, plus the line NEVER moved. I stood there for 20 minutes and all I had was mushrooms on my plate. There also was not enough seats for everybody (not even close).
When we went to the reception room, it was pretty and big, lots of room. The bartenders had the rolling carts (looked tacky). I ordered a vegetarian dish which was pasta cooked in about 50 pounds of garlic. The ice cream was great! And the dance floor was huge.
