Repost: How to Address Married Couple on Outer Envelope Invite
Hi everyone,
I've read different ways of addressing a married couple. Please give me some suggestions...I'm not comfortable just addressing Mr. and Mrs. John Smith....but yet find Mr. John and Mrs. Sally Smith kinda awkward. What's the proper/best way?
Thanks!!

Thanks :) Yeah, so long as none of the my female friends get offended that I don't include their first names on the invitation.

I posted on your other post how about
Mr. and Mrs. John and Sally Smith
We had ALOT of the younger married couples prefer it this way

I'd go with that. The women in my family of all ages get furious if they're addressed as Mrs. John Smith!

Yeah...I wrote back on the other post...I myself would prefer to have my first name addressed too...of course, this is coming from someone who's still pondering if she should change her surname after marriage..Most likely I'll "hyphenate" even though the combo sounds rediculous!

I'm only using "Mrs." on a few invites - everyone else on my list is "Ms." because they prefer it to Mrs.
I'm keeping my surname too - I'll probably eventually make my maiden name my middle name and use FH's last name - so I can use both and be Ms. O'Leary Cunningham - but that decision is probably years away - and professionally I'll always just be Ms. O'Leary It's a personal decision - I can understand women changing their name right away and having the same name as their DH and I can understand women not changing their name - both are fine.
