Can I wear my e-ring in the pool?

My friend is having a poolside gathering tomorrow, and it is supposed to be 93 (I live in MD). Is it safe for me to wear my e-ring in the pool, or should I just leave it home safe in my jewelry armoire? I am all for safety when it comes to my precious, but I just feel so naked without it...

Re: Can I wear my e-ring in the pool?

Honestly, my ring hasn't left my finger in almost two years. I have been in the pool, at the beach, golfing, you name it.

I wear mine basically everywhere...the only time I did not wear it was when I went to a water park...i was afraid it would fall off in the wave pool or something and i'd never find it. Other than that I wear it everywhere.

My ring never leaves my finger. Neither will my wedding ring!

Me too. I only wear my plain wedding band all the time (dishes, shower, etc.)

Especially in the pool or at the beach - water makes your finger smaller and then your ring feels big and feels like it will fall off.

My ring does not leave my finger...I went snorkeling with it, gardening, cook, workout...I love wearing it in the pool, the chlorine seems to clean it rather nicely!!

See, I'm in the minority here but I don't wear the ring or wedding band in the pool. I'm afraid of the effect chlorine has on platinum. For the HM I wore a simple white gold band; the jeweler gave it to me for stuff like that! Ask Somethingblu; she would know! :)

If your ring is loose that is may possibly fall off your finger, you need to get it resized. Even in the winter when my finger shrinks and the ring feels loose, it's only a little loose ... not falling off loose. There is something wrong if it's falling off of you, I would never wear it out then!

Same here - I have scratched DH with it while sleeping and I am just more comfortable taking it off to do dirty work, washing and cooking. It is actually uncomfortable for me at the gym, so I take it off then too.

I wear mine always - I tend to lose earrings, necklaces etc that I take off so it is safer if I just leave it on!

I would not wear it in the pool. Even if it fits well, the water will loosen it. I take mine off in the pool, shower, beach, washing dishes, even when I'm cleaning.

Wouldn't wear it in the pool. Your hands def shrink and there is a chance that it will come off. A few people on our honeymoon wore their rings in the pool and one guy lost it while playing pool volleyball. Another girl lost her stone.

Re: Can I wear my e-ring in the pool?

Here is some info of a website:

smudged, soiled and dusty. Lotions, powders, soaps and natural skin oils put a film on diamonds and cut down their brilliance. Clean diamonds glow, because the maximum amount of light can enter the stone and return in a fiery brilliance. it takes just a little care to keep them that way:

Do not wear diamond jewelry, especially rings, when doing rough work. Even though diamond is one of the hardest materials in nature, it can still be chipped by a sharp, sudden blow.

Chlorine can damage and discolor the mounting on your diamond jewelry. Keep your diamond away from chlorine bleach or other household chemicals. You should also remove your diamond jewelry before entering a chlorinated pool or hot tub.
Clean your diamonds regularly using a commercial jewelry cleaner, a mix of ammonia and water, or a mild detergent. Dip the jewelry into the solution and use a soft brush to dislodge dust or dirt from under the setting.
Always thoroughly rinse and dry your jewelry after cleaning and before storage.
Avoid touching your clean diamonds with your fingers. Handle clean jewelry by its edge.

I wouldn't wear my e-ring in a pool. Chlorine is a bleach substance that I wouldn't trust.

Re: Can I wear my e-ring in the pool?

I certainly wouldn't!
I take mine off to work in the yard, shower, beach, sleep..whatever the situation. I would prefer it stay nice than wear it the entire time.

ETA: Plus my diamond is my Mom's so it means a lot to mean and is irreplaceable.

A couple of weeks ago I posted asking about Good Old Gold and everyone on here raved about him knowing so much...one of the things he mentions on his site is this...:

How do I take care of my diamond engagement ring?
It is recommended that your ring be taken off before bed and put back on after you have showered, sprayed hair spray, and perfume, and after you put lotion on and it dried. (These items stick to the diamond and cause it to be dull and cloudy looking).

If your diamond ring looks dirty you can clean it with a soft bristled tooth brush with warm water and soap. Make sure to scrub under the diamond and rinse thoroughly.
Don't let it fall down the drain :)

Please be conscious of every day activities such as gardening, laundry, cleaning, working out and any other activities that may cause you to knock your ring around and possibly loosen the prongs.

Re: Can I wear my e-ring in the pool?

Okay girls, I think I'm leaving my e-ring safe at home tomorrow. I would so much rather miss wearing it than regret wearing it because something happened to it. I always take it off when I do lab work and wear it on a chain around my neck. I don't sleep or shower with it. Although, I can do dishes in it since I wear rubber gloves. So, its not like this will be the absolutely first time that I have taken it off. Thanks for your opinions!

Sure you can wear your e-ring in the pool but the chlorine will make your ring (the gold or the platinum) black slowly...
