At a reception hall: Shouldn't a Sunday early afternoon party cost less than a Friday night?

I booked DH's surprise party at a reception hall where my cousin is the manager. It's for a Friday night in November from 8-12.

He's offering me the same price for my MIL's party on a Sunday afteroon 12-4.

Shouldn't it be a little cheaper on a Sunday afternoon?

I was hoping to bring it down approx $7 per head

Is it the same menu? Same amount of guests? What time of year is it?

same menu, same guests.

DH's party is a Friday this November.

His mother's party would be on a Sunday in November 06.

I didn't want to be a nudge, but when I booked DH's party, my cousin did say, "if you book 2 parties, I'll give you a discount on the second party" I guess I should remind him...

Yes, remind him! No nudge, just being "thorough".

I just checked the list I got from my hall - Sunday afternoon and Friday night are $1 apart... but since you're doing two events there, you should definitely push for the discount! Good luck!

Every place I looked at Sunday afternoon was cheaper than Friday night. Sunday night and Friday night were almost the same...

Also, maybe the TYPE of party is affecting the price? LIke say, engagement party vs. 30th bday?

nah, he doesn't care that much. They're both surprise parties, just for different ages.

I'm talking to DH about his mom's party. I mentioned the price and he doesn't think it's doable (I agree).

We're thinking about checking out the place where I had my bridal shower, or just telling my cousin, "we cannot spend anymore than X per person. Can you do it?"

Maybe thats a great way to get your DH to his suprise party. Tell him you have to go meet your family member to discuss pricing on his moms suprise party!

I KNOW. Except, his party is on his actual birthday. So, he'll probably figure it out

What if you say thats the only time he could meet you and then you are going to take him out to dinner??
( Its in Nov right?) you can wait till the date gets closer and then say you want to go now b/c his boss said the prices are getting raised at the end of the year for 2006 and you need to book now to lock in the 2005 prices!
